SAMPEY TO MAKE HER TAD DEBUT THIS WEEKEND AT THE TEXAS MOTORPLEX

After months of preparation, the weekend has finally arrived for Angelle Sampey to expand her racing endeavors from two-wheels to four. The 46-time NHRA national event winner will make her highly-anticipated Top Alcohol Dragster racing debut at the NHRA Fall Nationals.

She comes into the Texas Motorplex after another successful A/Fuel Dragster test, this time behind the wheel of the Michalek Brothers' entry at Indianapolis Raceway Park. She will drive the same dragster this weekend.

"I feel very confident going into this weekend," said Sampey. "What a night and day difference between where I'm at now and those first few licensing runs at Brainerd (Minn.) back in August. I will admit, when I first got into the car last Wednesday, I was nervous again because I hadn't driven in three weeks, so I just had to get that first run down and shake the nerves off, but I was good after that."

CAPPS EYES SOME MORE DALLAS MAGIC AS HE PUSHES FOR FOURTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Capps always performed well at the fall race in Dallas. The star driver had a runner-up finish in 2016 at the Texas Motorplex, and then he won race in 2021 and 2022.

Capps enters the Texas NHRA FallNationals this weekend fourth in the points standings but a mere 33 points behind leader Bob Tasca III.

FUNNY CAR CHAOS TO BRING NINE-RACE SCHEDULE INTO 2024

Funny Car Chaos, the unique Funny Car-only format created by Chris Graves, has announced its 2024 schedule of events. The grassroots Funny Car series, which features diverse combinations ranging from supercharged engines on nitromethane to turbocharged on methanol, has emerged as a top drag racing entertainment venue. The bottom line is if the body lifts up and the car passes safety protocols, there’s a place for it to race. This season, Spell Paving Funny Car Chaos will present nine events, eight of which are championship points-earning events.

The season opens in April with the fourth annual Funny Car Classic at the Texas Motorplex, located outside of Dallas. This event, which has attracted as many as 64 entries in the past, will be partnered with sister series DMP Awnings Nitro Chaos on April 4-6, 2024, to bring more than enough nitro entertainment, including a 32-car feature field.

Haddock's path to triumph began on Saturday when he outpaced fellow Funny Car contender Jeff Diehl in the opening round, setting the stage for his monumental face-off with King for the Texas Invitational championship belt. NICKENS AND TAYLOR TO GO BLOWN FOR 2024

David Nickens wanted to see how well he could do. Sportsman drag racing Jeff icon Jeff Taylor was all too willing to give it a shot. They wanted to give a Factory Stock Showdown a shot.

Well, maybe not the class or the car.

Starting next season, Competition Eliminator’s dynamic duo will get a chance to have their cake and eat it, too. Next year they will hit the track with a destroked, 360-inch. Magnuson supercharged LS platform engine in a Dodge Stratus.
