PRO MOD LEGEND CHARLES CARPENTER TO DEBUT ’68 CAMARO

When fans, fellow racers, or almost anyone involved in fast doorslammer racing thinks of Charles Carpenter, a few things probably come to mind: nitrous oxide, the origins of Pro Modified, and the 1955 Chevrolet.

Carpenter will soon return to racing, but in a move that may surprise many, he won’t be behind the wheel of his iconic ’55 Chevy. After over four decades of racing various iterations of the “shoebox”, the Pro Modified pioneer will debut a recently-acquired 1968 Camaro built by Jerry Bickel Race Cars.

Ever since Ben Bray was a toddler, he knew his destiny was to include a firesuit and a very fast race car. In the back of his mind, there was the reality a day might come when he'd have to fill his famous father Victor Bray's shoes. 

This weekend, at Willowbank Raceway, at the most prestigious event he's ever participated in, reality stared him down. 

Bray showed just how well his dad had prepared him, and never flinched in the face of a monumental challenge.

This season, the hallowed event hosted annually by Willowbank Raceway, located just outside of Brisbane, celebrates its 50th anniversary.

During the 2016 offseason, Jack Beckman’s Funny Car team at Don Schumacher Racing went through wholesale changes.

His crew chiefs became John Medlen, Dean Antonelli and Neal Strausbaugh, and the trio helped Beckman reach the winner’s circle at the Summernationals at Englishtown, N.J. It was the first win of the season for Beckman in Terry Chandler's Infinite Hero Foundation Dodge Charger nitro Funny Car.

SAVOIE KEEPS WHITE ALLIGATOR RACING TEAM ONE TO BEAT IN PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE

From an NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle field of 16 that boasted five female riders Sunday, it was the same familiar guys who have dominated the season so far.

Jerry Savoie scored his first victory of the season at the Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park – and the third straight for his White Alligator Racing team in four bike events.

ANDERSON CAPS HECTIC WEEKEND WITH PRO STOCK WIN AT ENGLISHTOWN

The pace of this past race weekend at the Summernationals at Englishtown, N.J., was hectic for Greg Anderson and in the end, it was worth it.

After flying back to Mooresville, N.C., Saturday to attend his son’s high school graduation, Anderson made it back in time to Englishtown Sunday and left with a Wally.

The veteran Australian Pro Alcohol driver clinched his 20th series championship when he carried a point lead into the final day of the rain-cancelled Gulf Western Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway.

Steve Torrence powered his Top Fuel dragster to victory Sunday at the 48th annual NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.

Jack Beckman (Funny Car), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and Jerry Savoie (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also winners in their respective categories at the tenth of 24 events on the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule.

SMITH WINS PRO MOD EVENT AT THE NHRA SUMMERNATIONALS

Rickie Smith powered his IDG ’15 Camaro to victory on Sunday during the NHRA J&A Pro Mod Drag Racing Series at the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing, presented by Aquaball, was the sixth of 12 events this season.

Defending world champion Smith faced the No. 1 qualifier, Troy Coughlin, in the final round. Smith posted a winning time of 5.884-seconds at 247.93 to the trailing time of 5.882 at 255.29.
