TONGLET GRABS TOP PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE SPOT AT SUMMERNATS

When LE Tonglet became a teammate to reigning NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion Jerry Savoie he immediately had lofty expectations for 2017.

And, he hasn’t been disappointed.

BUTNER CLAIMS NO. 1 QUALIFYING SPOT IN PRO STOCK AT ENGLISHTOWN

Sometimes lost in the talk about the powerful Ken Black Racing Pro Stock team is Bo Butner.

Yet, it was Butner, not reigning Pro Stock world champion Jason Line or Greg Anderson who took center stage Saturday at the Summernationals as he captured the No. 1 qualifying spot with his 6.551-second run at 211.73 mph from June 9.

TOP QUALIFIER COUGHLIN WINS FIRST ROUND OF PRO MOD AT SUMMERNATIONALS

Troy Coughlin maintained the qualifying lead for the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. This weekend’s Pro Mod Racing, presented by Aquaball, is the sixth of 12 events this season.

Coughlin’s pass of 5.772-seconds at a speed of 257.53 mph from Friday’s qualifying session held up on Saturday to secure lane choice Saturday afternoon. He defeated Jonathan Gray in the first round of eliminations with a pass of 5.788 at 256.55.

C. FORCE, BROWN, BUTNER, TONGLET SECURE NO. 1 QUALIFIERS AT SUMMERNATS

DIXON THIRD AS NEWBY RUNS 4.48 DURING AUSSIE WINTERS FINAL DAY OF QUALIFYING

Damien Harris remained the top qualifier in the Top Fuel division.

During Friday evening qualifying, Harris recorded the quickest drag racing elapsed time in Australian Drag Racing history with a 4.443-second pass at 335.32 miles per hour. 

Harris' teammate Wayne Newby became the second driver into the 4.40s with a 4.481, 322.15 during the Q-3 session. 

American drag racer Larry Dixon was third with a 4.525 elapsed time at 335.07. He was preparing to stage for his final attempt when rain forced the cancellation of the session. 

COURTNEY FORCE TOPS FUNNY CAR FIELD ON FIRST DAY OF SUMMERNATS QUALIFYING

Qualifying has been a specialty for Courtney Force this season.

The popular driver of the Advance Auto Parts nitro Funny Car continued that trend Friday.

BROWN CLOCKS TRACK RECORD ET ENROUTE TO PROVISIONAL NO. 1 AT ENGLISHTOWN

Reigning NHRA Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown flexed his muscles Friday at the Summernationals in Englishtown, N.J.

Brown clocked a 3.713-second elapsed time at 329.42 mph, a track record ET at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
