Matt Hagan’s season couldn’t be off to a better start.

Hagan, a two-time NHRA nitro Funny Car world champion (2011, 2014) won his second race in a row in 2017, the latest coming at the Arizona Nationals Sunday at Wild Horse Motorsports Park.

Leah Pritchett said she thinks she and her Papa John’s Pizza Dragster team are “doing pretty OK” in living up to boss Don Schumacher’s standards.

But she’s incorrect.

Billy Glidden was injured on Monday, February 21, 2017, when severe tireshake forced his Pro Modified 2010 Mustang in the retaining wall during a run while testing at Orlando Speed World Dragway. 

Glidden was knocked unconscious in the accident, and was diagnosed with five broken ribs and bruised lungs. 

The competition in NHRA’s Pro Stock class may be getting tighter, but the Summit Racing team is still a step ahead.

Reigning world champion Jason Line won the season-opening Winternationals (Feb. 12) and Sunday his teammate, Greg Anderson, was victorious at the Arizona Nationals.

Leah Pritchett repeated as the Top Fuel winner at the 33rd annual NHRA Arizona Nationals on Sunday at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

Matt Hagan (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) were also winners in their respective categories at the second of 24 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events.

The start of this run was weird at best.

Veteran nitro Funny Car driver Tommy Johnson Jr. sat on the starting line for just over a second, but when the bulb did flash he made a memorable run as he set a track record with his 3.837-second elapsed time at 329.10 mph during the final qualifying session Saturday at Wild Horse Motorsports Park near Phoenix.
