TEAM BRAY RACING INKS MAJOR SPONSORSHIP WITH GULF WESTERN OIL

 

Australian drag racing icon Victor Bray is back at full speed once again.

Bray, a multi-time Top Doorslammer champion, has signed Gulf Western Oil, a top name lubricants company to a five-year major sponsorship for his five-car racing operation. 

Gulf Western Oil, the largest Australian-owned manufacturer of lubricants in Australia,  has a comprehensive distributor network throughout Australia, India, Vietnam, China, PNG, New Zealand, Fiji, Tahiti, Kiribati & Samoa.

For the upcoming Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car event at the Perth Motorplex, the partisan local crowd will have someone to cheer for, with the West Australian-based ‘Nitro Madness’ funny car to be piloted by young hot-shoe, Nathan Coles.

Nathan Coles is based out of Northern Australia but he didn’t have to be asked twice to make the trip when asked about the opportunity to race the Michael Brooks-owned Camaro in WA.

An accomplished driver, Coles has been racing for many years in blown cars before making the transition to outlaw nitro funny cars.

DSR, FRIENDS RAISE MORE THAN $110,000 IN '16 FOR RILEY KIDS

Don Schumacher Racing senior vice president Mike Lewis had big dreams when he introduced DSR to Riley Kids and the Riley Children's Foundation that supports Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health and Camp Riley.

One of his goals 12 years ago was realized in 2016 when DSR, its marketing partners and friends in the NHRA drag racing community raised a record of more than $110,000 for Riley.

JOHN HALE LEAVING JIM DUNN RACING SEAT

Nitro Funny Car driver John Hale confirmed to CompetitionPlus.com that he will not be driving for Jim Dunn Racing in 2017.

Hale drove the Jim Dunn Racing Funny Car for 48 races in the 2016-17 seasons.

2016 PRI TRADE SHOW FINISHES WITH WHIRLWIND OF ACTIVITY

Race industry professionals from throughout the world gathered last week in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the three biggest business days in racing, also known as the 2016 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show. Featuring thousands of manufacturers, new products and industry announcements, the annual trade event was a resounding success, as Showgoers left prepared and eager for more business heading into the 2017 racing season.

From the pre-Show seminars and special events, to the Grand Opening Breakfast with Rick Mears and Jeff Gordon, and the product debuts and unveilings on the Show floor, the race industry’s premier Trade Show was filled with education, networking and sales.

DON SCHUMACHER RACING'S MAKE-A-WISH, INFINITE HERO FUNNY CARS WILL RETURN IN 2017 WITH CONTINUED SUPPORT FROM TERRY CHANDLER

New Mexico philanthropist and drag racing enthusiast Terry Chandler has funded the Make-A-Wish and Infinite Hero Funny Cars at Don Schumacher Racing for the past three seasons. During that time, the teams have combined to win a remarkable 15 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events and 16 No. 1 qualifying spots.
 
Chandler and her teams have just barely missed the championship in each of the past two seasons; in 2015, Jack Beckman finished No. 2 in the nation in the Infinite Hero Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car, and in 2016, it was Tommy Johnson Jr. and the Make-A-Wish Dodge team that finished the year in second place.
