MORGAN COMES BACK HOME TO SPORTSMAN RACING

Larry Morgan had to think about the offer presented to him.

Morgan, who entered the Pro Stock ranks in 1989, made a strong name as a sportsman racer, having raced once as a member of the famous Rod Shop/Castrol Super Team. He secured nine national event victories as a sportsman racer. 

Morgan returned to his old stomping grounds, thanks to an arrangement brokered by Holley's Robin Lawrence to drive Darren Poole-Adams' COPO Camaro. 

PRITCHETT TO ROLL WITH THE RED BIRDS THIS WEEKEND IN ST. LOUIS

Leah Pritchett will help Papa John's, official pizza of Major League Baseball and the NFL, support the St. Louis Cardinals by carrying the "Red Birds" insignia on the car this weekend.
 
Papa John's Pizza Inc. (NASDAQ: PZZA) sponsored the 28-year-old native of Southern California living near Indianapolis at the last three events of the regular season.

KALITTA TO DISPLAY DEWALT FLEXVOLT COLORS IN ST. LOUIS, READING

 

For the second consecutive season, NHRA Countdown for the Championship contender Doug Kalitta will showcase the colors of DeWalt. The black and yellow scheme will be campaigned for the next two events: the AAA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis and the NHRA Keystone Nationals in Reading, Penn.

Stanley Black & Decker, the parent company of both Kalitta’s traditional primary sponsor, Mac Tools, and DeWalt, will use the space to promote their new line of DeWalt Flexvolt products. The DeWalt Flexvolt line, which includes new battery technology, was launched earlier this season.

ELLIS FOCUSING ON EACH RACE, NOT POINTS

Yes, he’s fresh off an emotional win at the Carolina Nationals Sept. 18 – his first national event victory since 2008.

FERRE TOOK THE LONG ROAD TO TOP FUEL

Hollywood is littered with the broken dreams of those sacrificing everything to become a movie star. Cameron Ferre used Hollywood to make his dreams of being a drag racer come true.

Ferre, a California native, saw an NHRA race at Pomona when he was nine realized drag racing is where he wanted to be.  

“I used to race BMX, motocross, and just kept getting hurt,” Ferre said. “I said ‘Dad, stop the presses, we’re done with that." 

“He said, ‘Well, son, we’re from the beach. We’re beach people, we don’t know anything about race cars. If you want to try to figure it out, you’re gonna have to do it yourself.”

DODGE NAMED TITLE RIGHTS SPONSOR OF MELLO YELLO SERIES EVENT AT MAPLE GROVE

Dodge has signed an agreement to become the title rights sponsor of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Maple Grove Raceway.

The 32nd annual Dodge NHRA Nationals will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 2 and is the third race in the six-race NHRA Countdown to the Championship. The track is traditionally one of the quickest on the NHRA circuit and has been the site of several national records through the years.

OZZY MOYA PULLS HIS FOUR TRACKS FROM IHRA TO GO NHRA

Four tracks owned by racing businessman Ozzy Moya, have joined the NHRA Member Track Network and all the facilities will be part of Division 2. Orlando Speed World Dragway in Orlando, Fla., Lakeland Drag Strip in Lakeland, Fla., South Georgia Motorsports Park in Cecil, Ga., and Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt, Fla., will join the Southeast division.
 
Orlando Speed World Dragway and The Lakeland Dragstrip are proud to announce their return the NHRA family.  As two of the oldest continuously operating dragstrips in the state of Florida, the return will reignite a 50 year partnership for both facilities with the NHRA.

JEFF AND LEEZA DIEHL INJURED IN NON-RACING AUTO ACCIDENT

 

There has been an inconspicuous absence from one of drag racing's favorite low budget teams, and it has nothing to do with funding.

Jeff "The Surfer" Diehl, and wife/Back-up girl Leeza Diehl were involved in a non-racing automobile accident in which the couple was fortunate to have walked away with their lives. 

The Diehls, following the NHRA Northwest Nationals, were rear-ended by an eighteen wheeler just outside of Sacramento, Ca.

HALL HEADLINES WINNERS AT THUNDER ROAD NHRA DIV. 4 LODRS

 
The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series crowned champions for the NHRA, South Central Divsional, event at Thunder Road Raceway Park.
 
In Comp Eliminator, Keith Hall, Ravenna, Texas, took home his eighth win, in eleven final rounds as he defeated Brian Browell, Lafayette, Ind. who brokeout. Hall posted a winning run of 8.452 seconds at 142.43 mph.
