HINES CAPTURES SECOND CAREER INDY PSM CROWN

 

Throughout the weekend, the Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson teammates Andrew Hines and Eddie Krawiec struggled – at least to their standards.

When it mattered most, Hines, who qualified No. 7, was at his best Monday.

VON SMITH TAKES HOME FIRST INDY PRO MODIFIED WIN

 

The best part of winning Indy is realizing you didn't lose in the final round. At least this is how Von Smith sees it. 

Smith, of Kingston, Tenn., left the starting line in the Pro Modified final at the Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals, and when his Al-Anabi supercharged Corvette shook the tires, and got sideways he could only watch as Troy Coughlin pulled away. 

A funny thing happened on the way to the turn-off for Smith. A track worker set Smith straight.

SCHUMACHER, HAGAN, MCGAHA AND HINES VICTORIOUS AT PRESTIGIOUS U.S. NATIONALS; COUNTDOWN TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP SET

Tony Schumacher sprinted to victory on Labor Day at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Chris McGaha (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners in their respective categories at the 18th event of 24 on the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. The Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals was the final race of the regular season.

MILLICAN LEADS TOP FUEL FIELD, McMILLEN’S BATTLE WITH PRITCHETT EXTENDS TO ONE LAST DAY

Clay Millican rode out his 3.692-second pass at 316.82 mph from Saturday to lead the Top Fuel field at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.
 
The driver of his so-called “Little Team That Could” will meet nail-biting Countdown hopeful Terry McMillen, the No. 16 starter, in the opening round of eliminations Monday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.      

COUGHLIN RACES TO FIRST ROUND VICTORY AS PRO MOD NO. 1 QUALIFIER AT U.S. NATIONALS

Troy Coughlin raced to a first round victory Sunday as the No. 1 qualifier in the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is presented by JEGS. This is the seventh of 10 Pro Mod events on the 2016 season.

Coughlin, the reigning and two-time world champion, used his 5.773-second pass at 254.76 mph from Friday night in his late model JEGS.com Chevy Corvette to earn the third No. 1 qualifier of his career and first of 2016.

 

 

C. FORCE WINS FUNNY CAR PORTION OF NHRA TRAXXAS NITRO SHOOTOUT; HAGAN, MILLICAN, BUTNER AND SAMPEY RACE TO NO. 1 QUALIFIERS IN INDIANAPOLIS

 

Courtney Force won the lucrative Funny Car portion of the NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout and Matt Hagan secured the No. 1 qualifier Sunday at the 62nd annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Clay Millican (Top Fuel), Bo Butner (Pro Stock) and Angelle Sampey (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were No. 1 qualifiers in their respective categories at the 18th event of 24 on the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule. The Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is the final race of the regular season.
