Glenn won the #2Fast2Tasty Pro Stock Challenge Saturday and his 6.642-second elapsed time at 205.26 mph against a redlighting Erica Enders also gave him the No. 1 qualifying spot for the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor in Topeka, Kan.

HIGHT, TORRENCE, AND GLENN SECURE TOP QUALIFIER SPOTS AT MENARDS NHRA NATIONALS

The Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor qualifying leaderboard remained unchanged in the nitro ranks as Robert Hight and Steve Torrence remained atop thjeir fields while Dallas Glenn took over the top spot in Pro Stock.

Hight, driving the Cornwell Tools/AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, maintained his grip on the top spot by clocking an impressive time of 3.948 seconds at 321.19 mph during Friday's run.

“That 80 is a big number, it shows I've been doing it a long time, but it also shows I've had great teams behind me,” Hight said. “You're not No. 1 qualifier without a really good racecar. This is a tribute to all the good people I've worked with. This is big for us. I think we're turning a corner with this new combination; it's starting to respond. Jimmy [Prock, crew chief] was happy.

SAMPEY GETS HER TURN TO WARM A TOP FUEL DRAGSTER

Last month it was the "King of the Speed" Kenny Bernstein.

On a sweltering Saturday afternoon in Topeka, it was three-time NHRA champion Angelle Sampey.

As Sampey points out, it's the seventh time she's warmed up a Top Fuel dragster.

It's another edition of the Antron Brown traveling nitro warm-up show.

STEVE TORRENCE CAPTURES PROVISIONAL TOP FUEL NO. 1 SPOT IN TOPEKA

Don’t look now, but Steve Torrence is finding his groove.

Torrence, who won four NHRA Top Fuel world championships in 2018-2021, is transforming back into his former dominant self.

Torrence, who won his first race of the season in Seattle July 23, and has won the last two episodes of the Mission Foods 2Fast/2Tasty Challenge, which features the semifinalists from the previous Camping World tour event, rocketed to the top of the qualifying board Friday in Topeka, Kan.

ROBERT HIGHT MAKES MUCH-NEEDED RUN TO GET PROVISIONAL NO. 1 IN TOPEKA

The 2023 NHRA slate began strong for former nitro Funny Car world champion Robert Hight.

Hight, who pilots an entry for John Force Racing, won two of the first five races of the season.

However, the last seven races have not been great for Hight as he lost in the second round five times and first round once. His best run in that stretch was a run to the semifinals in Bristol, Tenn.

TORRENCE, HIGHT AND ANDERSON EMERGE AS EARLY TOPEKA QUALIFYING LEADERS

Currently placed second in points, Torrence is eyeing his first No. 1 qualifier this season and 35th in his career, while also closing in on championship form.

PSM RACER JOEY GLADSTONE DISCUSSES WHY HE HAS NOT BEEN RACING

A year ago, Joey Gladstone had a career-best campaign in NHRA’s Pro Stock Motorcycle class.

Gladstone, piloting a Suzuki for Reed Motorsports, won three races, and finished second in the points standings just 82 points behind world champion Matt Smith. His three wins in Sonoma, Topeka and Reading, Pa., were the first of his PSM career, which began in 2017.

Gladstone also had an impressive 31-12 elimination-round record in 2022.
