The veteran team owner carried six nitro teams into battle during the 2010 with all six qualifying for the NHRA’s Countdown to 1 playoff system. Two of those cars finished within striking distance of world championships.

Equally impressive, Schumacher has managed to maintain major sponsorships and create new opportunities for marketing opportunities in the midst of a still challenging economic environment.

Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com caught up with Schumacher on Thursday afternoon to discuss the latest news with his DSR operation as well as an insight into how he views drag racing.

FMR NITRO RACER BAZEMORE EMBARKS ON NEW TV SHOW

When former nitro racer Whit Bazemore became an avid cyclist in his spare time, it was a hobby intended to provide rehabilitation for his severely injured legs, bazemore3not to mention relaxation and fitness away from the grueling grind of the NHRA drag racing tour. Today, his hobby has become his job. At least temporarily.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE PRO MOD WILLYS

Mike Garland blames Paul Rowe, a west coast model builder. Four months from now he’ll still blame him.
1
Garland, a talented professional drag racing model builder, says it was a model built by Rowe, a 1/16th scale Pro Street/Pro Mod Firebird hybrid which has led him down a new path in his model building career.

His newest project is one of his most challenging endeavors.

Garland is presently working on a scratch-built project with a 1941 Willys resin body from Flash Point Motorsports. Unlike the standard model car kit, there’s no box with molded parts and directions.

MORE “UNIQUE” PRO MODS

Christopher Buck, owner of Top End Miniatures, a leading manufacturer of Pro Modified resin bodies for model cars, sent us a few shots of the incredible 1:16th scale work belonging to Wayne Stevens Jr. and Clay Kemp.
