ANDERSON TALKS ABOUT THE HAULER FIRE

In a perfect world, 50 congratulatory voice mail messages would have been better for Greg Anderson. But as the newly crowned Pro Stock champion learned during his championship season, his world was far from perfect.

greg_andersons_trailer Those 50 messages were from fellow drag racing community members seeking more information on a race rig fire which destroyed the entire contents of the KB Racing transporter. Anderson had been in transit all day, returning from a glorious outing where he was crowned with his fourth championship.

The best way Anderson describes what transpired is that he’d reached the top of the world only to have the rug yanked from underneath him.

KALITTA'S JIM O DANCING TO SUCCESS

Tammy_JimVirtually all his life Jim Oberhofer has been involved with drag racing.

The grease and grime of working in the pits is second nature to Oberhofer. The 43-year-old has been working for Kalitta Motorsports since 1983 and is presently the crew chief for Doug Kalitta’s Top Fuel dragster.

Of all the things Oberhofer has seen and done, dancing, of any kind, wasn’t on his bucket list.

“I never ever thought about dancing,” said Oberhofer bluntly.

Why would he? Oberhofer tunes an 8000 horsepower nitromethane-fueled dragster to go 320 mph in 1,000 feet. What’s more, Oberhofer’s boss is the legendary Bounty Hunter Connie Kalitta.
