JUSTIN ASHLEY GETS HIS SIXTH WIN OF SEASON IN TOPEKA

 

Practically the entire 2023 NHRA season, Justin Ashley has been setting the pace for the Top Fuel class.

That trend continued at the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor in Topeka, Kan.

Ashley captured the victory at the final NHRA event at the facility Sunday night as it is closing at season’s end. Sunday’s race was marred by massive rain delays, but did get completed.

Ashley clocked a 3.702-second elapsed time at 323.58 mph to defeat Brittany Force’s 3.707-second lap at 322.88 mph.

BOB TASCA III CAPS LONG DAY IN TOPEKA’S VICTORY LANE

 

When Bob Tasca III has been good this season, he has been great.

That was definitely the case for the veteran driver/team owner at the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor in Topeka, Kan., Sunday.

Tasca capped a long day full of rain delays to take the win at the final NHRA national event at Heartland Motorsports Park, which is closing at season’s end.

ERICA ENDERS LEAVES HER MARK AT TOPEKA’S FINAL RACE WITH A WIN

 

When the curtain dropped on Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kan., Erica Enders left as a star.

The reigning NHRA Pro Stock world champion beat rival Greg Anderson in the finals at the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor on Sunday.

Enders clocked a 6.617-second time at 206.13 mph in her Elite Motorsports Chevy to defeat Anderson’s 6.636-second lap at 198.41 mph.

DALLAS GLENN TAKES NO. 1 QUALIFYING SPOT IN TOPEKA

 

Dallas Glenn is having a career-best season in NHRA’s Pro Stock ranks, and his momentum keeps picking up more steam.

Glenn won the #2Fast2Tasty Pro Stock Challenge Saturday and his 6.642-second elapsed time at 205.26 mph against a redlighting Erica Enders also gave him the No. 1 qualifying spot for the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor in Topeka, Kan.

HIGHT, TORRENCE, AND GLENN SECURE TOP QUALIFIER SPOTS AT MENARDS NHRA NATIONALS

The Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor qualifying leaderboard remained unchanged in the nitro ranks as Robert Hight and Steve Torrence remained atop thjeir fields while Dallas Glenn took over the top spot in Pro Stock. 

Hight, driving the Cornwell Tools/AAA Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, maintained his grip on the top spot by clocking an impressive time of 3.948 seconds at 321.19 mph during Friday's run. 

“That 80 is a big number, it shows I've been doing it a long time, but it also shows I've had great teams behind me,” Hight said. “You're not No. 1 qualifier without a really good racecar. This is a tribute to all the good people I've worked with. This is big for us. I think we're turning a corner with this new combination; it's starting to respond. Jimmy [Prock, crew chief] was happy. 

HAGAN, TORRENCE, AND GLENN TRIUMPH IN MISSION #2FAST2TASTY NHRA CHALLENGE IN TOPEKA

Matt Hagan emerged victorious in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, securing his second win for Tony Stewart Racing at Heartland Motorsports Park on Saturday. The Funny Car champion defeated Chad Green in an electrifying final round, adding to the excitement of the Menards NHRA Nationals presented by PetArmor.

Steve Torrence in Top Fuel and Dallas Glenn in Pro Stock also emerged victorious in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge held in Topeka.

Hagan ran a 3.960 seconds at a speed of 318.24 mph in his American Rebel Dodge Charger SRT Hellcatto stop Chad Green whose 4.039 seconds at 313.73 mph run came up short. He stopped J.R. Todd to reach the final round. 

SAMPEY GETS HER TURN TO WARM A TOP FUEL DRAGSTER

 

Last month it was the "King of the Speed" Kenny Bernstein.

On a sweltering Saturday afternoon in Topeka, it was three-time NHRA champion Angelle Sampey. 

As Sampey points out, it's the seventh time she's warmed up a Top Fuel dragster. 

It's another edition of the Antron Brown traveling nitro warm-up show.
