CAMERON FERRE EXPERIENCES HIGHS AND LOWS OF DRAG RACING FIRSTHAND

There’s no question the sport of drag racing can be an emotional roller-coaster.

Top Fuel driver Cameron Ferre knows that all-to-well – especially after last offseason.

On Nov. 14, 2021, driving for Paton Racing, Ferre had a career-best performance, advancing to the semifinals at Auto Club NHRA Finals season-finale in Pomona, Calif.

It was the highlight of Ferre’s career, and he was excited to parlay that momentum in more success with the Patons in the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.

JOHN FORCE HAS BEEN EVERYWHERE, JUST NOT THERE

If only John Force, the colorful 17-time Funny Car champion (one in the ADRA), had a dollar for every autograph he's signed in his illustrious career.

Those dollars could likely field a fifth John Force Racing nitro entry.

Force has signed it all, including a pig. Yes, a pig.

MATT SMITH DEALING WITH SUZUKI GROWING PAINS

Since 2018, Matt Smith has been the class of NHRA’s Pro Stock Motorcycle class winning three world championships including the last two in a row.

However, Smith knew if he wanted the world championship hat trick he was going to have to switch from his reliable Buell to Suzuki.

Smith did just that in the 2021 offseason and he was riding a Suzuki at the Gatornationals, the season-opening race for the Pro Stock Motorcycle riders March 10-13 in Gainesville, Fla.

Smith qualified No. 1 but was then upset by Lance Bonham in round one, slowing to an 8.565 elapsed time.

STEVIE FAST HAS AN IDEA, BUT IS ANYONE LISTENING?

Two-time NHRA Pro Modified champion Steve Jackson has been waiting for the perfect platform to let his idea be known. Tuesday night on the CompetitionPlus POWER HOUR, the man known as Stevie Fast let it rip.

"I'll talk about one thing NHRA can do to fix all this bs," Jackson said. "Y'all want to know? I proposed it. Nobody wants to do it, and I have no idea why. I can't get them to tell me why they don't want to do it. They say it's not a good idea. You know how to fix all this parity bs in Pro Mod?"

Jackson can name that tune in three words.
