KWAN INTERNATIONAL CONTINUES TO MAKE A MARK ON NHRA'S GLOBAL OUTREACH

Displayed on the side of Gary Densham's nitro funny car at Infineon
Raceway was Kwan International's distinct logo.  Racing in the densham.JPGNational
Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) 22nd annual Fram Autolite Nationals in
Sonoma, California, Densham and Christina Kwan, owner and founder of
Kwan International, continued their efforts in expanding NHRA's global
interest.

"While all of NHRA's 24 races are shown on ESPN television, there is a
lot to be done in terms of bringing more interest to the sport on a
worldwide scale.  NHRA likes to promote its diversity among its drivers
and fans; however, even more countries still need exposure to the
fastest sport in the world," says Kwan.

TROXEL FINE-TUNES HER ROUTINE IN QUEST FOR FIRST PRO MOD WIN

As she rolls into just her third national event competition behind the wheel of the R2B2 Racing "Voodoo" '63 Corvette Pro Mod, melanie.jpgMelanie
Troxel is using her experience as a professional driver in other drag
racing cars to work her way to success in her latest challenge.
Although she will readily admit to still learning the finer points of
the fully suspended Pro Mods she jokingly refers to as 'angry little
cars,' she maintains the goal of winning every race she enters. This
weekend, she will once again grace the quarter-mile, this time at the
IHRA Northern Nationals presented by Dart Machinery at U.S. 131
Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.

A fan favorite wherever she goes, Troxel said she is anxious to go back
to Martin, the site of her IHRA Top Fuel debut in 2007. "The fans are
really important to me, wherever I am, maybe even more so because of
the current economic conditions. They are spending their hard-earned
money to come for a show, a day at the race track - and I try to spend
as much time with them as I can," Troxel said.

BADER’S TRUTH IN ADVERTISING

nuf_force_christmas1.jpgBill Bader has an odd method for measuring success.

Saturday marks the 32nd running of his Night Under Fire
event. It’s a one-day extravaganza with nitro, jet cars, fireworks and
anything else that belches fire from the pipes. There are also 174 of
the toughest local drag racers going head-to-head in heads-up, outlaw
style competition as well as bracket racing at Summit Racing Equipment
Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Yesterday, Bader got a call from the local Highway Department informing
him that they were sending over an officer to assist his wearied and
already overworked staff parking race rigs. By 7:45 AM, traffic was
backed up all the way to Norwalk. The highway was cleared by 8:30 that
morning.

FORD REP: WE HAVE A LONG TERM AGREEMENT WITH FORCE

Ford Racing has dismissed an internet report stating that John Force
Racing will have their sponsorship cut down to two cars in 2010.

“There's no truth to the rumor that Ford Racing is looking to cut Force
down to two cars,” said Brent Maurer, Ford Racing PR Manager. “We have
a long-term agreement with John Force Racing.”

CASH4GOLD SIGNS WITH DUNN

One of the most storied teams in all of drag racing, Jim Dunn Racing, has partnered with one of the fastest growing private  dragraceweb468x60.jpg companies
in the U.S., Cash4Gold. The partnership encourages drag racing fans to
turn in old or unwanted jewelry to generate significant cash in today’s
economy. The race team’s exclusive partnership with Cash4Gold in the
sport of drag racing will start in the NHRA and spread to other
sanctioning bodies, teams, and race tracks through Jim Dunn Racing and
Forward Sports Marketing.

MIKE ASHLEY: I MISSED DRIVING

Mike Ashley is the boss of his race team but when his team speaks he will yield to their demands.

That’s not because Ashley is weak in leadership. It’s just the opposite.

He’s such a confident leader, and habitual assembler of a successful
nucleus, that when his people provide instruction, the New York
mortgage banker from Long Island knows they speak with his best
interests in mind.

That’s why when Ashley proclaimed that he was planning a return to
nitro racing this fall, his crew chiefs and supporting cast would only
give their blessings for a dragster.
