Five times in the last 24 years, Sherman Adcock has earned the right to compete
in the prestigious JEGS Allstars competition and each time, the Columbus, Ga.,
racer has come up short of his ultimate goal of reaching the winner’s circle.
Adcock, a two-time NHRA world champion, will be back for his sixth attempt at
JEGS Allstar glory when the special event kicks off at Route 66 Raceway on June
7, during the Torco Race Fuels NHRA Nationals. Adcock will be one of eight
competitors in the Super Comp category who will be vying for the $4,500 top
prize.
The
JEGS Allstars is a special event that is open only to the best sportsman racers
from each of NHRA’s seven geographic divisions, based on a year-long points
battle. In addition to the individual championships in eight eliminators,
Allstars competitors will also be competing for the $20,000 bonus that is
awarded to the overall team champions. Adcock, who represents the Southeast
Division (Division 2), was part of the winning team in 1991. He also qualified
for the prestigious event in 1986, 1995, 2002, and 2007.
