SCHUMACHER VISITS U.S. ARMY CUP TEAM

schumacherDSA_4202.JPGTop Fuel driver Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher, who will pay a visit to his U.S.
Army NASCAR teammates Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, says from firsthand
experience that it's premature to already crown the Nextel Cup champion.

After all, Schumacher knows about beating heavy odds. He overcame what
appeared to be insurmountable deficits the past two years to capture the
National Hot Rod Association's (NHRA) Top Fuel season titles.

Two weeks ago, he claimed his fourth straight and fifth overall NHRA
championship by winning the season finale in Pomona, Calif. He entered the
event fourth in the standings, 67 points behind the leader. Last year he not
only had to win the final race in Pomona, but also needed to set the national
elapsed time record to secure the championship.

"I think too many people are saying the Nextel Cup championship is over,
but I'm not one of them," said Schumacher from his Chicago home. "Our U.S. Army
Top Fuel team is vivid proof that the unpredictable can happen. If a champion
driver like Jeff Gordon is in mathematical contention, you don't bet against
him."

COUGHLINS ON TIMES SQUARE

Minutes after Jeg Coughlin Jr.
won the 43rd annual Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals and clinched
his third POWERade Pro Stock championship at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona the
news was had flashed across the country to Times Square in New York City.

OFFICIALS SCRAMBLING TO FILL SMITH'S WISH LIST

million dollar wish list leaked to the media that has the items needed to keep

rebates and assistance in creating noise barriers to appease neighbors who
complained of a proposed drag strip.

SCOTTY CANNON RETURNS TO PM

DSA_8528.JPGScotty Cannon, Sr. will join his son
Scott, Jr. in the pursuit of the 2008 IHRA Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified world
championship. The elder Cannon, a six-time IHRA Pro Modified world champion,
will cease driving in the Top Fuel ranks in order to drive an identical
Vanishing Point Race Cars 1968 Firebird to the one Scott, Jr. won the 2007
championship with.

Scotty said driving Evan Knoll’s
personal Top Fuel dragster was an incredible opportunity but his heart was in
racing the doorslammers.

“What can you say when a man like Evan
Knoll gives you the opportunity of a lifetime,” Scotty said. “We all have to be
honest with ourselves and my heart is in racing Pro Modified. I poured my life
into the class and while I had to pursue the nitro racing to fulfill a dream,
Pro Modified still had my heart. I don’t think I ever really
left.

NSCA CLOSES UP SHOP

Tony Depillo has made the decision to close the National Street Car
Association, a longtime sanctioning body for heads-up, street legal
type racing.

Depillo issued the following statement:

REICHERT'S DREAM SEASON

One could easily say 2006 NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster World Champion Bill Reichert
picked up right where he left off in 2007.  After winning the season-ending Auto
Club NHRA Finals in Pomona in 2006, Reichert and his Rislone Engine Treatment
backed team started their 2007 season off with a 5.23 second pass on their first
run of the season in Gainesville, Fla.  The stellar performance would indeed be
an indication of things to come, as Reichert reached the final round at seven of
his first nine races on his way to winning his second-straight Top Alcohol
Dragster World Championship.

Reichert, of Owosso, Mich., was recently crowned as
the champ at the NHRA Sportsman Awards Banquet in Los Angeles.  After winning
the season-ending Auto Club Finals in Pomoma, Calif., for the third straight
year, he points out the 40 plus hour drive back to Michigan wasn't so
bad.

KEN BLACK DISPELS RUMORS

Team owner Ken Black has a message to send to the racing community,
don't believe everything you read, especially if it suggests that he
won't be fielding a Top Fuel dragster in 2008. Black has already spent
much of his morning dispelling a rumor mill story that suggests he's
parking his Top Fuel dragster campaigned under the Kalitta Motorsports
umbrella.

EXCESSIVE LEAD TOYS RECALLED

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with
International Sourcing Ltd., of Springfield, Mo., recently announced a
voluntary recall of about 7,500 dragster and funny car toys due to
surface paint on the wheels and engine containing excessive levels of
lead.

The product was sold at National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) events
through Schumacher Racing, and Matco Tools through door to door sales
by its representatives from March 2007 through September 2007.
