Don
Schumacher confirmed today that NAPA AUTO PARTS has entered into an
associate-sponsorship agreement with Don Schumacher Racing to support five of
its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series professional teams. The familiar
blue-and-gold NAPA
logo will be featured on Tony Schumacher’s U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster, the
U.S. Army-sponsored Pro Stock Motorcycles of Antron Brown and Angelle Sampey,
the Ron Capps-driven Brut Revolution Dodge Charger Funny Car, and the Mail
Terminal Services Dodge Charger Funny Car of Jack Beckman.

Mike Hill, who last year ended Chevrolet’s dominance of Outlaw 10.5 competition
at Rockingham Dragway, tries to make it three-in-a-row this week when he and his
all-conquering 2006 Ford Mustang return to the Carolinas’ fastest track for the Holcomb Motorsports
Spring Civil Wars.

Although his Ford
overpowered the Chevy Camaro of fellow Georgian Michael Robinson to claim a
$10,000 top prize at last year’s spring race, Hill will be hard-pressed to
repeat in a field that is expected to include track record-holder Ken Rainwater
of Kimberly, Ala.

Rainwater stunned the
field last fall with a barrier-busting 4.484 second eighth-mile time that earned
his 2003 Mustang the No. 1 starting position.  He likely will be joined this
week by Pat Wheatley of Brandenburg, Ky., and the best of the Carolina Outlaws, Stacy McIntyre
of Lawndale, in
another Mustang, and Scott Hartley of Lenoir, in a 1968
Camaro.

A great deal of emphasis
has been put on John Medlen’s faith and the inner strength he has drawn upon as
a means of dealing with son Eric’s death. Bruce Litton shares the same spirit
as Medlen – the Holy Spirit.

Litton, IHRA Top Fuel
winner in San Antonio, openly professes his faith in public and private
interviews. For him, it’s not just a lifestyle – it’s his life.

“God is the most important
thing in my life,” Litton said. “He’s the most important thing in a lot of
people’s lives. We all have to have something to fall back on. There’s always a
better day ahead for all of us.”

Litton pointed out that
his testimony requires no coaxing and just like Medlen, the Holy Spirit leads
him to share.

“The more you learn about
Christ, the more you want to share,” Litton said. “It’s an important part of my
life. That’s my main focus in life.”

Alcohol Funny Car driver Bunny Burkett is known as one of the toughest female competitors on the track, but make no mistake, she is one of the toughest you will ever find off of it as well.

Aaron Polburn ascended to
the IHRA Presidency in the latter half of the 2004 season after Bill Bader’s
abrupt resignation. He’s weathered a few storms, but through it all his
confidence in the direction the IHRA has taken under his leadership has never wavered.
That instinct comes with the territory for Polburn. A promoter at heart, he’s
held almost every position possible dating back to his days at Thompson Dragway
in Ohio.

Just last month, even
though it was by default, Polburn was credited as presiding over the first
full-fledged eighth-mile national event since 1974. We caught up with Polburn
recently at Rockingham Dragway.

across Georgia recognized at the 2007 Georgia Manufacturing Appreciation Week
Manufacturers of the Year Governor’s Award Luncheon in Atlanta, Georgia.
Governor Sonny Perdue was the keynote speaker.
 
A manufacturer of
motorcycles and motorcycle parts for customers worldwide, Star Racing/G2
Motorsports, was nominated as one of the small Manufacturers of the Year for
2007 by South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia.  A small
manufacturer is classified as a company with 150 or less
employees.

President Sparky Reeves, SGTC Vice President of Economic Development Wally
Summers, SGTC Director of Resource Development Su Ann Bird, and SGTC Business

NHRA officials announced a multi-year agreement with Precision Turbo
and Engine as the official turbocharger of the NHRA Xplôd Sport Compact
Racing Series.

“We are pleased to have Precision join the Xplôd Series as an official
sponsor,” said Josh Peterson, general manager of the NHRA Xplôd Sport
Compact Racing Series. “Precision’s involvement with the series is
heavily rooted with the numerous teams they provide help for, and their
participation in the NHRA sport compact contingency program.”

Precision Turbo and Engine provides support for several teams in the
NHRA Xplôd Sport Compact Racing Series including 2006 world champions
Brad Personett (Pro FWD), Paul Efantis (Modified), Ron Lummus (Hot Rod)
and Ryan Woon (Sport RWD – West Region).

When
Virginia Tech graduate Kevin Futrell and his girlfriend, current VT student
Jennifer Marshall, made plans to attend the IHRA Spring Nationals with
Jennifer’s best friend Matt Gwaltney, they never imagined they would attend the
race without him.

Gwaltney, of Chesterfield, Virginia, was a student at
Virginia Tech and one of the 32 victims who lost their lives in the massacre
last week.

“This is our second time out to the races; we were here at
Rockingham for last year’s race and had a real good time, so we wanted to come
back,” Futrell said. “But with the events of last week, we’re a man
short.”
