ANTRON BROWN, JUSTIN ASHLEY TO JOIN FORCES IN 2022

It was a relationship many knew was bound to happen. In the days leading up to the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis, Antron Brown and his newly formed Antron Brown Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Davis Motorsports and its driver Justin Ashley will be aligned in 2022.

The two teams will operate as one entity while maintaining their own independent identities.

"To bring in Justin Ashley and Dustin Davis Racing, Davis Racing, it was beneficial on both sides," Brown said. Just beneficial to where I think it's not just something that we wanted to do. It was one of those deals, too, that we wanted to, but we have to just to be able to compete and keep up with all the other teams that we're going to be going against next year."

STEVE JOHNSON KNOWS HE'S CHALLENGED TO TOP DREAM SEASON

After his quarter-final loss at the Auto Club NHRA Finals, Steve Johnson's anguish told the story without the underdog frontrunner having spoken a word.

The longest of all longshots, Johnson was in the running for a seemingly unreachable championship. Until the telltale loss, he was in contention to win the Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.

After leading the championship chase for two races during the Countdown to the Championship, the first time he'd held the points lead, the self-inflicted bullet wounds to the foot got the best of him.

NHRA PLANS TO MAINTAIN FACTORY X PARITY THROUGH ENGINES

The NHRA’s technical department plans to maintain parity in the forthcoming Factory Experimental division, also known as Factory X, through adjustments to the respective engine combinations of the Chevrolet, Chrysler, and Ford competitors.

All three car combinations to run in Factory X will begin at a universal weight of 2,650 pounds and run supercharged engines. The COPO Camaros will run the 630-horse Magnuson 2.65L supercharger, while the DragPak Challengers will utilize the 630-horse, 3.0L Whipple. The Cobra Jet 327 Mustangs will battle with the 610-horse, 3.0 Whipple unit.

The adjustments will not come due to perceived aerodynamic disadvantages but rather performances on the track themselves. It doesn’t appear that minimum weight adjustments will be part of the initial equation.
