SAVOIE CONQUERS PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE RIVALS IN SIXTH STRAIGHT TEXAS FINAL

Louisiana native Jerry Savoie has dodged two or three hurricanes this fall.

For the second time in as many events, Funny Car racer Alexis DeJoria emerged uninjured from either a significant fire or explosion.

Sunday at the 35th running of a AAA Texas Fall Nationals event, after earlier recording her quickest run of the new season, the engine in her Funny Car had two connecting rods fail. That started a fire that spread to the carbon fiber body and eventually engulfed both DeJoria and the car in thick, black smoke that forced her to exit through the roof hatch for the second time in as many NHRA events.

WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY RACEWAY AND NHRA TEAMING UP FOR SIX SPORTSMAN EVENTS IN 2021

World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, announced that the venue will become the home for NHRA sportsman racing in the Midwest for the 2021 season. WWTR’s drag strip will host two Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events, two National Opens and two stops on the JEGS Super Quick Series. In addition, the track will present sportsman racing in conjunction with the September 24-26 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series national event.
 
“We hosted a tremendous Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series doubleheader three weeks ago and it was well-received by the entire sportsman community,” said WWTR Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Blair. “Our location makes it easy for racers from four of the NHRA’s geographical regions to drive here in just a few hours and serves as the perfect central location during the divisional, regional and national points chases.”

S. TORRENCE, BECKMAN, HARTFORD AND SAVOIE PICK UP VICTORIES AT AAA TEXAS NHRA FALLNATIONALS

In an all-Torrence Top Fuel final round at their home track, Steve Torrence powered past his father, Billy, on Sunday at Texas Motorplex to win the 35th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals.

Jack Beckman (Funny Car), Matt Hartford (Pro Stock) and Jerry Savoie (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won in their respective categories at the ninth of 11 races during the 2020 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

BRANDON SNIDER BREAKS THROUGH FOR FIRST CAREER NHRA PRO MOD VICTORY

Brandon Snider capped off an impressive weekend at Texas Motorplex, winning for the first time in his career in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service.

Snider, who was the No. 1 qualifier for the second straight race in his supercharged Corvette, went 5.805-seconds at 245.99 mph in the final round to beat defending world champ Stevie “Fast” Jackson on a holeshot. Jackson went 5.795 at 247.43, but Snider’s quicker .025 reaction time was the deciding factor in the victory.
