FRIDAY VEGAS QUALIFYING

HIGHT SITS NO. 1 AFTER FRIDAY QUALIFYING IN LAS VEGAS; SCHUMACHER, HUMPHREYS, AND ELLIS ALSO LEAD

hihtDSB_0020.JPG
With father-in-law John Force watching from starting line and recently
added teammate Mike Neff making his first competitive runs in Funny
Car, Robert Hight took the role of team leader during the opening day
of qualifying at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals.

While John Force looked on, Hight drove his Auto Club Ford Mustang to a
4.763-second provisional No. 1 qualifying effort at 322.58 mph at The
Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel), Justin Humphreys (Pro Stock), and Chip
Ellis (Pro Stock Motorcycle) joined Hight atop the charts with two
qualifying sessions remaining.

Hight was beaming after his second run of the day, mostly because he
saw how happy it made Force, who was sporting hard casts on his left
leg and arm as well as a number of bandages, in his first time back at
the track since his accident in Dallas.

NHRA PM FRIDAY

tindleDSB_0242.JPGTim Tindle drove his Chuck Ford-tuned 67 Mustang to the top of the AMS Pro Mod
pack at the ACDelco NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas. His 6.023/236.55
run was good enough for both the No. 1 spot and the win over Scott Ray in the
first round of the $50,000 ProCare Rx Pro Mod Clash.

"We're pretty
pumped right now.  I think we hit it pretty much on the bull's eye on both runs.
That's the first time in a while that we have led two back-to-back qualifying
sessions. That is a big confidence builder that we've been lacking," Tindle
said.

Also coming out on top in the Clash were John Russo, Steve Engel
and Jay Payne. Payne defeated 2007 World Champion Josh Hernandez in a brilliant
side-by-side drag race, 6.068/235.51 to 6.074/237.88. Payne took a huge
starting-line lead with a .029 reaction time to Hernandez'.064.

NEW HOME FOR JEGS U.S. OPEN

us_open_logo07.jpgRace officials announced today that the 4th annual Jeg’s U.S. Open Bracket
Championships will change venues for 2008, moving to the most prestigious and
historic drag racing facility in the world: O’Reilly Raceway Park at
Indianapolis.  O’Reilly Raceway Park will host the annual bracket shootout,
quickly becoming one of the premier big dollar bracket events in the country,
next summer: June 12-15.

“We’re really excited about this announcement,” stressed Dave Szerlag, who
co-promotes the event with brother-in-law Mike Fuqua.  “Mike and I have been
working for four years to put on the most racer-friendly big dollar bracket
event in the country, and taking the event to O’Reilly Raceway Park is our
opportunity to take the Jeg’s U.S. Open to the next level.”

The first three Jeg’s U.S. Open Bracket Championships have been held at
Tri-State Raceway near Cincinnati, OH.  “The management and staff at Tri-State
have been great to us over the last three years,” said Szerlag.  “But this event
has grown to the point that we were really confined by the facility; in terms of
parking, curfew, and flexibility.”

With the move to O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, just 90 miles West
of the event’s original home, the Jeg’s U.S. Open Bracket Championships will
enjoy the premier facility in all of drag racing.  “What more could you ask for
in a facility?” asked Szerlag.  “O’Reilly Raceway Park is the ’grandaddy’ of
racing venues: big dollar bracket competitors will be treated with the latest
Compulink timing system, digital scoreboards, state-of-the-art lighting and P.A.
system, and unlimited parking.  As promoters, we’ll have more flexibility and
state-of-the-art equipment to put on a better event: No curfew, a jet dryer, a
full medical facility on the premises, and all of the best track prep and
cleanup equipment available.  All in all, the move to ORP gives the Jeg’s U.S.
Open a chance to grow and prosper into ‘the big go’ of bracket racing, just as
the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals is to the NHRA Powerade tour.”

LUCAS BOBSLEDDING

Morgan Lucas will again be going for the Gold in the third annual Geoff
Bodine Bobsled Challenge at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid,
N.Y. against some of motorsports’ greatest drivers on January 3–5, 2008.

After finishing second to seemingly perennial Bodine Bobsled champion,
Boris Said last year, Lucas is excited about re-sharpening his runners
and honing his skills for the second time of his young racing career
attacking the 18-turn tricky course.

“It’s such a thrill to know I’ll be back at the Bodine Bobsled
Challenge,” said Lucas, readying himself for the uniquely steering
package consisting of handles and precise timing.  “It was so much fun
driving the bobsled, but what really made it special was getting to
know all the NASCAR guys.”

After watching the 1992 Winter Olympics, Bodine became interested in
helping the U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team create and design their own sleds
instead of relying on the old or outdated bobsleds purchased from other
countries.  Bo-Dyn Bobsleds (“Bo” for Bodine, "Dyn" for Chassis
Dynamics) was created later that year by Bodine and his friend and
chassis builder, Bob Cuneo of Chassis Dynamics, located in Oxford,
Conn.  Bodine founded the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc. to help create a
winning bobsled for the U.S. teams.  The U. S. National Team first used
Bo-Dyn sleds in 1994.  Ten years after Bo-Dyn's inception, the U.S.
team won three medals in Bo-Dyn Bobsleds during the 2002 Winter Olympic
Games in Salt Lake City, including a gold medal in women’s bobsled.
The women’s team also captured a silver medal in the 2006 Winter
Olympic Games in Torino, Italy.  This past season saw the U.S. bobsled
team win two World Cup season-ending gold medals and two silver medals,
as well as 17 World Cup medals (seven gold, nine silver, and one
bronze) and two World Championship medals.

FORCE RACES FOUR IN VEGAS

After being driven Friday from his Yorba Linda, Calif., home to The Strip at Las
Vegas Motor Speedway to meet, face-to-face, with his drivers and crew chiefs,
injured drag racing champion John Force ended speculation about his team’s
participation in this week’s seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals by
certifying as race-ready all four of his Ford Mustang Funny Cars.

Before Friday’s meeting, only title contender Robert Hight’s Automobile
Club of Southern California Mustang had received an okay to compete in the
season’s next-to-last race.  The other three Fords were held back while new
chassis data was analyzed by crew chiefs Austin Coil, Bernie Fedderly, John
Medlen, Jimmy Prock and Dean Antonelli.

BARKLAGE TRAILER FIRE

Torco's CompetitionPlus.com has learned that SUPER CHEVY Nitro Coupe
racers and longtime Pro Modified competitors Zach and Cody Barklage's
trailer caught fire on the way to the SUPER CHEVY event in West Palm
Beach, Florida. A team spokesperson said at 5 PM, the team had just
arrived at the track and it is too early to full assess any damage
reports. Apparently, the hardest hit of the two was Zach's 1957 Chevy.
Cody's GTO was upstairs and appears undamaged. No word on the cause of
the fire or whether they will compete this weekend.

BIG NHRA PM WEEKEND

More than $130,000 in prizes and purse money is on the table as the AMS Pro Mod
Challenge presented by Tindle Enterprises, Inc. contests its last event of the
season at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the ACDelco NHRA Vegas
Nationals this weekend. In addition to the $30,000 event purse and the $50,000
BAE Championship Cup Championship purses which will be awarded after the event,
eight drivers will compete for their share of the $50,000 ProCare Rx Pro Mod
Clash awards.

Texan Josh Hernandez has already clinched the $25,000 top
prize and World Championship title in the BAE Championship Cup, but the
remaining $25,000 will be divided amongst the other top ten still vying for a
position. Second place Raymond Commisso currently has a more than 200-point lead
over 2006 World Champion Jay Payne, but with more than 500 points up for grabs -
100 points per round-win - the No. 2 spot is still up for grabs.  In the hunt
for the $5,000 third place purse are Canadian Tony Pontieri, series presenting
sponsor Tim Tindle and Ohio trucking mogul Steve Engel.

The mood was
jovial on the first-ever ProCare Rx Clash Public Pairings teleconference held
Tuesday night. The eight drivers competing in the Clash joined together to learn
their fate in the first round, and jabs were taken as each tried to position
himself with any advantage possible. Since the ProCare Rx SuperNationals in
Englishtown, New Jersey, competitors have been earning points based on their
qualifying position and consistency in their qualifying efforts.

FORCE STILL WEIGHING OPTIONS

j_force.jpgJohn Force said Wednesday that he will send a full complement of Team Castrol
Ford Mustangs to this week’s ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las
Vegas Motor Speedway, but the 14-time NHRA Funny Car champion stopped short of
confirming the participation of either Rookie-of-the-Year contender Ashley
Force, rookie-to-be Mike Neff or Phil Burkart Jr., who tested impressively with
the team last week.

“We have some new data and it looks like we still have issues,” Force
said.  “All I can say right now is that I have cleared Robert Hight to race in
the Automobile Club of Southern California Ford.  Decisions will be made on the
other three cars after I talk with my crew chiefs again in Las Vegas.”

Still recovering from injuries suffered in a Sept. 23rd crash at the Texas
Motorplex, Force cited “chassis issues” as the reason for his indecision.  He
would not elaborate further, but said he okayed Hight to compete because his car
was built by a different manufacturer than the other three.

The heat-treating process has become the subject of debate in the weeks
since the chassis beneath Force’s Castrol-backed Ford pulled apart after a tire
failed for reasons not yet determined, leaving the 125-time tour winner’s legs
exposed.  Nevertheless, Force said Wednesday that heat treating is not the only
issue currently being addressed by his team.
