The top
nitro-powered cars in the world will be competing August 3 – 5 at Knoll-Gas Motorsports
Park at US 131 south of Grand Rapids, Mich., during the Torco Racing Fuels
Northern Nationals, the seventh event of the Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing
Series. The weekend will include appearances by IHRA’s current stars, as well
as some of the best NHRA crossovers, including J.R. Todd, Melanie Troxel and
Clay Millican in Top Fuel and Mike Ashley and Gary Densham in Nitro Funny Car.

“This will
be an amazing nitro showcase, an unofficial all-star game, for Michigan racing fans to enjoy at Knoll-Gas Motorsports
Park at US 131,” IHRA
vice president of marketing Jim Marchyshyn said. “NHRA’s best will come over
and take on IHRA’s best in the two nitro categories. We’ll also be running the
Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Pro Modified Shootout featuring the world’s
quickest door cars.

“We applaud
the track management for increasing the amount of spectator parking after
nearly running out last season. We are going to need it this year,” added
Marchyshyn.

Todd, a
five-time NHRA event winner currently fourth in the point standings, will be
making his return to IHRA. He competed during the Northern Nationals in 2006
and actually began his career racing with mentor Bruce Litton, who is currently
second in IHRA point standings.

Barklage Racing went to Indy on a mission to bring home another big Barklage
win.  The team was struggling with the
fresh emotions of the tragic accident at the Barklage shop earlier in the week
that resulted in the death of Joe Bellamy. 
Although the team had many obstacles to overcome, the team was on top at
the end of qualifying.  Sitting No. 1 was
Zach Barklage in his 1957 Chevy with a top ET of 6.17, but not far behind him in
the No. 2 spot was substitute driver Scott Palmer in Cody Barklage’s Pontiac GTO
posting an ET of 6.22.

“My car was pretty quick all
weekend,” said Barklage.  We went out to
win a race, and taking the No. 1 qualifier position is always the first
step.  We went to Indy ready to step-up
our game, and now we know we had the car to beat.  I am sorry my brother wasn’t there to give me
the usual tough competition, but Scott Palmer is a good driver.  He was the No. 2 qualifier, and racing well,
so I think this proves we have two excellent cars.” 

Despite Cody Barklage going into
Indy tied for first in Nitro Coupe, he did not compete.  Racing in his place was Scott Palmer, of
Branson, Missouri, driver of the O’ Reilly Auto Parts /
Nitro Plate Top Fuel Dragster.  Although
Palmer is best known for his time in Top Fuel, Palmer has several years
experience in a door car.

Top Fuel driver J.R. Todd and crew chief Kevin
Poynter were friends long before they joined forces at Dexter Tuttle
Motorsports. They met several years ago, when Todd was working on Bob
Gilbertson’s Funny Car and Poynter was a crew member for Top Fuel
driver David Baca.

“He got to drive every now and then on Mondays,” Todd said, referring
to the fact that Poynter -- who is licensed in both the Top Fuel and
Pro Stock classes -- was a test driver for Baca. “He was driving before
I was.”

Drag Ltd has today announced that they have secured the largest a nd
most comprehensive television deal in the history of Australian Drag
Racing, with the coverage shared across three broadcasters, including
Channel 9, SBS and the Foxsports Channels.

DRAG Ltd, which holds the commercial rights for Group 1 Drag Racing,
will provide national administration for the new TV package, which
promises consistent, high quality media show casing all levels of drag
racing.

Coverage will include all major ANDRA Group One rounds, from tracks all
over the country. The new coverage will make it much easier for fans to
keep up to date with the latest results from all the events, no matter
where they are run.

The content will differ significantly from previous drag racing
coverage, with a real focus on the people and stories behind the
performances. As the drag racing road show makes its way around the
country, there will be tales of inspiration, stories of heartbreak and
celebrations of triumph.

With the announcement of the High Velocity Impact Race slated for
October 20-21, Houston Raceway Park is eager host the Outlaw 10.5, True
10.5, and Pro Mod classes. Effective immediately, HRP will offer FREE
Friday Night Tech cards to all three classes for the remainder of the
2007 racing season.

In addition HRP is extending FREE High Velocity Impact Race Event Tech
Cards for the three quickest recorded 1/8th mile E.T.'s in Outlaw 10.5
and the three quickest recorded 1/8th mile E.T.'s in True 10.5 during a
Friday Night Test/Tune only. The deadline to qualify for the FREE event
tech card is Friday, October 12th. Don't miss the exciting racing

Auto
Meter Products, Inc., a Harbour Group company, completed the acquisition of
Stack Limited, Jeff King, President of Auto Meter, announced.  Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Limited, based in Bicester,
United Kingdom,
is a leading global developer and supplier of professional-quality data
acquisition systems and instrumentation for automotive racing and other rugged
applications.  Stack’s products include
sophisticated modular data and video-logging solutions, integrated driver
displays, tachometers, and other gauges. 
Alan Rock, Managing Director, and Trevor Tapping, Technical Director,
lead Stack Limited and will continue in their respective roles after the
transaction.

The Team Transit Mix Cavalier of Pro Street Champion Steve Paulauskis,
tuned by Kelly Bluebaugh of WFO Racing and Machine, set an outrageous
new Pro Street record of 6.333 @ 221.78 mph this past weekend in
Bakersfield, California.

The record was backed up during the exciting final round of the make up
race of the West Coast Hot Rod Associations (WCHRA), Team Transit
Mix-Spring Nationals, which was rained out after one round of
qualifying earlier this year. It was a long wait of anticipation for
Paulauskis, Bluebaugh, and the Team to return to Bakersfield to back
the record after the rainout. Bluebaugh said the weather conditions
earlier in the year were just simply better and it was tough to try and
back the record in the summer heat.

In addition to setting a stout record, the Team Transit Mix Cavalier
took the win for the make up of the Spring Nationals and the win for
the concurrently scheduled WCHRA Team Racing Enterprises Midsummer
Shootout, which ran at the Famoso Dragway, July 13-14, 2007. It was a
fantastic double-header weekend for Team Transit Mix Sponsor Tom
Nelson, Paulauskis and Team WFO as the Cavalier worked through rounds
with precision.

Allen Johnson's victory marked the fifth of his career out of 11 final
rounds. The last time he visited the winner's circle was Seattle of
2006.

No other win has meant as much to Johnson as this one did.

"It's just a fairy tale weekend," said Johnson, seated beside his dad
and team engine builder Roy, who had suffered a heart attack earlier
this year, and has recovered fully. "I'm sure Dad will second that. For
this being a Mopar event, we were the fastest car, No. 1 qualifier:
everything you can do we did this weekend and it feels really good."

What could have been a tragedy provided a reprieve from fate for the Johnsons.

"We were lucky we were in the right spot at the right time," Johnson
said of Roy's attack in Phoenix. "It worked out that he's more healthy
now than he was before then. So, you can tell he's smarter (because of
the way the car's running.)

"That one race was a setback for him and the team. We've just come back
even stronger and everybody's bound together and we tested our butts
off and they put in long hours at the shop on the engines and it's just
all starting to come together.

"We've been a win waiting to happen since the first of the year and
just hadn't gotten a break. In the finals we got a break. We probably
wounded our motor in the finals because we only ran 192 mph.
Fortunately, Ron broke a transmission, so there's the break we were
looking for.
