TUTTEROW'S SECOND PDRA CHAMPION IS JUST AS FULFILLING

Sometimes you just need to provide a reminder.

That's exactly what jack-of-all-trades, and master of them all Todd Tutterow did. Nine years ago, the doorslammer racing icon scored the inaugural Professional Drag Racers Association [PDRA] Pro Boost title. Last month he added his second as a reminder that he can still win in the class that focuses on supercharged and turbocharged vehicles.

Tutterow, who races a screw-blown 2020 Camaro, opened the season with back-to-back wins at the East Coast Nationals presented by FuelTech at GALOT Motorsports Park and the Vortech Doorslammer Derby presented by Stroud Safety at Beech Bend Raceway Park. Runner-up finishes at two of the last races of the year, plus a rainout at ProFab DragWars at GALOT, put Tutterow in the position to clinch the 2022 world championship with a first-round win at the Proline Racing Brian Olson Memorial World Finals presented by ProCharger at Virginia Motorsports Park.

PEDREGON SAVES BEST FOR LAST WITH CAREER-BEST PASS IN WIN AT AUTO CLUB NHRA FINALS

Cruz Pedregon, by his standards, has had a bad year.

No, Pedregon has had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year, for anyone familiar with classic children’s literature. In that children’s tale of a similar name about Alexander and his bad day, the main character learns that bad things are going to happen, but when you’re surrounded by people that support you, you can still achieve your dreams.

FITTING FINALE: ANDERSON BESTS ENDERS IN CLASSIC PRO STOCK SHOWDOWN AT AUTO CLUB RACEWAY

It is rare to know that you are witnessing history in the moment. Oftentimes, we don’t fully comprehend what a season, a race, or a single run will mean in the grand scheme of the history of the sport until years later.

But Sunday’s showdown between Greg Anderson and Erica Enders had all of the classic markers of a matchup for the ages. Between them, 10 championships. 144 Pro Stock race wins. Four consecutive titles. So it was only fitting that two of the best to ever strap into a racecar closed out the 2022 season in style with another classic matchup in their rivalry at the Auto Club NHRA Finals.
