AFTER LONG BREAK, ERICA ENDERS KEEPS MOMENTUM GOING WITH EPPING WIN

NHRA’s Pro Stock class had not competed in a national event since Houston on April 24.

Erica Enders won that race at her hometown track in the farewell event at Houston Raceway Park and she kept her momentum going Sunday, June 5.

Enders, a four-time world champ, clocked a 6.547-second time at 211.00 mph in the final round to defeat Elite Motorsports teammate Aaron Stanfield who came in at 6.553 seconds at 212.13 mph.

BROWN ADDS TALENTED TEENAGER TO HIS TOP FUEL OPERATION

About a dozen years ago, Top Fuel racer Antron Brown won the Finals at Pomona, and in the sports section of USA Today newspaper the next morning, a blurb read that “Anson Brown” had won the race.

Anson Brown was barely in kindergarten when that misprint occurred. One day he might be in the winners circle – and in the pages of the newspaper. But first things first.

Starting this weekend at the NHRA’s New England Nationals at Epping, N.H., the articulate and already-automotive-savvy high-school student is joining his father’s AB Motorsports Matco Tools/Toyota Dragster team as a crew member during his summer break.

SELLOUT CROWD SEES HAGAN, SALINAS AND ENDERS EARN WINS AT NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

For the first time this year, Funny Car points leader Matt Hagan knocked off Robert Hight in the final round, powering to an impressive third win of the season on Sunday at the NHRA New England Nationals at a sold-out New England Dragway.

Mike Salinas (Top Fuel) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) also picked up wins at the eighth of 22 races during the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season. For the second straight day, NHRA and New England Dragway officials announced a sellout crowd at the facility.

DALLAS GLENN KEEPS HIS PRO STOCK NO. 1 QUALIFYING SPOT IN EPPING

Sometimes athletes have great rookie seasons in sports and then they vanish and were a fluke.

That isn’t the case for 2021 NHRA Rookie of the Year Dallas Glenn.

IN FRONT OF SELLOUT CROWD, S. TORRENCE, HAGAN AND GLENN QUALIFY NO. 1 AT NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS

AS A TEENAGER, NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY WAS BRIAN LOHNES' SANDLOT

Little did Brian Lohnes know a completed assignment would set the stage for what would become one the more storied careers in drag racing's microphone man history.

Lohnes was 19 years old and working at New England Dragway on a Wednesday test and tune session. A go-fer in the track's tech department when the entries slowed down, track manager Joe Lombardo sent Lohnes to the tower to begin announcing. While the kid was proficient at teching cars, it became clear his talents were in conveying the attributes of those running down the track.

Fast-forward 23 years later to 2022, every time the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series heads to Epping, NH, Lohnes, now the lead broadcaster on the NHRA's FoxSports broadcasts, feels like he's returning to the sandlot where it all began.

STEVE TORRENCE’S TRACK RECORD ET PUTS HIM ATOP QUALIFYING CHART AT EPPING

So far in 2022, this has not been a Steve Torrence-like season in NHRA’s Camping Word Drag Racing Series.

Through seven races, Torrence, the reigning four-time Top Fuel world champion, has yet to win an event.
