FAMOSO DRAGSTRIP'S BLAKE BOWSER FINALLY GETS HIS SHOT AT A NORMAL RACE

Blake Bowser, the face of Famoso Drag Strip, never imagined what would have transpired following his highly successful 2020 Bakersfield March Meet event in a million years.

A worldwide pandemic sent the drag racing community into a tailspin, the likes of which have taken Bowser and the rest of the drag racing world almost two years to reconfigure its baseline.

When qualifying kicks off for the 64th annual Good Vibration March Meet, it will be the first time Bowser and his team have fielded a drag race the way it used to be. This time the restrictions will be left up to the race fans.

The rumors that Lyle Barnett will not be racing in the Pro Mod class at the Gatornationals March 10-13 in Gainesville, Fla., are not true.

“I'm going to race no matter what,” said the fan-favorite Barnett to CompetitionPlus.com. “I just lost my title sponsor, so I'm just trying to find somebody to come on board. I'm still going. I just don't have a title sponsor now.”

CAPPS RETURNS TO HIS WILD SIDE WITH AA/FA

It only took Ron Capps five seconds to realize this was not the Kentucky Derby confines of his NHRA program, but instead, the rodeo version with a wild bucking bronco in the form of a fuel altered.

The last time Capps was behind the wheel of a fuel altered was 2020, the year he won the Fuel Altered division at the March Meet, the last event before the pandemic hit.

It didn't take Capps long to get reacquainted during his practice runs on Thursday at the Good Vibrations March Meet.

SALINAS PLANS SUPER-BUSY 2022

Mike Salinas isn’t the least bit concerned that tuning sage Alan Johnson left his Scrappers Racing operation for greener pastures.

Salinas has a lot more on his mind – including running a full Pro Mod season in addition to his Top Fuel schedule, introducing himself to the Pro Stock Motorcycle world, thriving in a family full of females (even the pets), and helping change the sport of drag racing.

The San Jose, Calif., businessman is qualified second on the Top Fuel ladder for Sunday’s eliminations at the NHRA Arizona Nationals in the Phoenix suburb of Chandler. But although he’s at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and focused on his dragster when it’s time to do so, his hyperactive mind is darting down all sorts of paths.
