PRO STOCK VETERAN DERIC KRAMER EAGER FOR 2022 CAMPAIGN

Veteran Pro Stock driver Deric Kramer had a decent 2021 NHRA campaign, finishing 10th in the season points standings.

However, one runner-up effort and three semifinal appearances wasn’t exactly what Kramer was looking for last year. He wants more success.

Kramer will be at the PRO Nitro Spring Training, Feb. 12-13, at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Phoenix to get ready for the season-opening Winternationals Feb. 17-20, in Pomona, Calif.

On his first day on the track as a team owner/driver, Ron Capps showed them who's the boss.

In one of the final pulls of Day Two testing at the PRO Nitro Spring Training event, Capps drove his way to the top of the Funny Car leader board with a 3.874-second, 325.14 mile per hour pass.

"It's a good start," Capps said. "We didn't get to run yesterday. The first day there were a lot of cars that did run, and we were a little behind, just getting our stuff together. These guys right here, I talked about starting a team with NAPA and everything, but I talked about the first thing we did was people. It's all about people.

Hight was the first car at the  Professional Racers Organization Nitro Spring Training at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park to make a full pull and made it count with a 3.911 second, 323.11 mile per hour pass.

Hight's run was his first time in the car since last November's AAA Finals in Pomona, Ca.

BACK ON THE HORSE AGAIN: RICKIE SMITH WILL RETURN TO FORD

Rickie Smith began racing on a national level in 1976 in a Ford.

There’s a strong chance that he is going to end those pursuits in the same brand. (And, no, for the umpteenth time, he’s not about to retire.)

For the past 33 years, the multi-time NHRA, IHRA and PDRA champ has piloted General Motors products. When the 2022 NHRA Pro Modified season kicks off March 10-13 at Gainesville, Fla., Smith will roll to the starting line in a late-model Ford Mustang.

TERRY MCMILLEN RECOVERING FROM BROKEN LEG

It’s a good thing veteran drag racer Terry McMillen wasn’t going to return to driving until later in the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.

The Top Fuel driver broke his fibula last week when he slipped on ice in his driveway.

DOUG GORDON TO FLY BETA RED COLORS DURING HIS FINAL TWO YEARS IN TAFC

DALE CREASY JR. WINS COMPETITIONPLUS.COM’S FAN-VOTE FUNNY CAR TITLE

The fan votes have been counted and the winner of the Funny Car class of the 2022 Competition Plus Virtual Reality Hot Rod Association is Dale Creasy Jr.

The honor wasn’t lost on the veteran nitro Funny Car driver.

“Yeah, that was cool,” Creasy Jr. said about topping the fan vote. “That was cool. I saw it. I didn't know if we were going to be able to get around (Tim) Wilkerson but it worked out.”

Unbeknownst to Creasy Jr. he clinched the VRHRA’s people’s champion title by getting voted into the eight-car field for the final race of the season – nine of nine – the World Finals in Ontario, Calif., Jan. 31-Feb. 4.
