BROGDON IS BRINGING A STORM TO NHRA IN 2022

There's a storm brewing for NHRA Pro Stock driver and Competition Eliminator Robin Hood, Rodger Brogdon. Soon the tempest will hit the strip.

For Brogdon, this storm is the design on his forthcoming Pro Stocker from KB Racing bearing the name of his Rooftec brand, a roofing company that has aided countless storm victims in getting their properties back to normal.

"The whole car is a big giant storm with lightning bolts, tornadoes, and everything else on it," Brogdon explained. "Even though I'm not a storm chaser, I know the car will draw a lot of attention. I just wanted to do something a little bit different."

MIKE SALINAS ENCOURAGES ANOTHER GENERATION OF DRAG RACERS

Top Fuel racer and drag racing dad Mike Salinas knows the value of encouragement.

Salinas met Alliana (now 17) and Terralyn Fletcher (9), now Junior Drag Racing sisters, at the 2019 Dodge NHRA Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway while on a family trip with parents Terry and Bobbi. The blue-collar Top Fuel racer immediately took a liking to the sisters and began chatting with them about the virtues of drag racing, and especially his daughters' involvement.

A gifted used piston sealed the deal.

HAMMONDS NEW CAMARO IS DEFINITELY A LOOKER

Tom Hammonds has been there and done that in drag racing circles. He even has the t-shirts to show for it.

Once a superstar power forward in the National Basketball Association, Hammonds did his time on the grand stage as a Pro Stock driver. And while driving a Pro Stock car was fun, the experience of fielding a team left a lot to be desired in the fun department.

"I always wanted to get back and involved in racing again," Hammonds said. "And man, I mean, I remember my old days when I first started racing with my old, old, old 69 Camaro that I had. I was running in NMCA Series. I started looking around at where I'd like to race. To me, NMCA resembles as close as you can get to an NHRA event."

CREW CHIEF DEL WORSHAM READY FOR DEJORIA TO KEEP MOMENTUM GOING IN 2022

With the start of the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series on the horizon, it wasn’t hard to notice the excitement in Del Worsham’s voice.

Worsham, the crew chief along with Nicky Boninfante on Alexis DeJoria’s nitro Funny Car, is ready to get 2022 rolling, especially with how strong DeJoria finished the 2021 campaign.

DeJoria got a heater in the final three races last year – winning in Bristol, Tenn., losing in the second round in Las Vegas, and claiming a runner-up finish at the season-finale in Pomona, Calif. DeJoria, who also was the No. 1 qualifier in Bristol and Vegas, finished sixth in the final world standings.

For those new to this fantasy world, this is how it works. The race with the most votes advances to the next round. We had a day of voting to seed the eight-car fields.

First-round ends tonight at 6 PM EST.
