UPDATED: DON WOOTEN: WE'RE RACING AT 50%

The NHRA has apparently won the first battle of wills in the skirmish
against the ADRL in regards to injected nitro doorslammers competing
this weekend ADRL Saftey-Kleen Dragpalooza 5 at Houston Raceway Park in
Houston, Tex.

Don Wooten has said he will compete at 50% nitro if that's what it takes to get to race.

“If they [NHRA] say we have to knock the nitro out of it, then that’s
what we gotta do,” Wooten told CompetitionPlus.com. “We’re going to
show up and be there and this is nothing more than the NHRA flexing
their muscles. I don’t know what this has to do with the NHRA but that
is what this is all about.

NHRA BIKES PREPARE FOR 2009

It’s a tradition as old as the class itself. Since it became a professional category in 1987, the Pro

Steve Johnson has been burning the midnight oil preparing a new bike to compete in 2009.

Stock Motorcycle class has begun each season under the warm
Florida sun at the historic Gainesville Raceway. The 2009 Full Throttle
Drag Racing season will be no exception as the 190 mph class prepares
to officially kick off the season at the 40th annual ACDelco NHRA
Gatornationals, March 12-15 in Gainesville, Fla.

Typically the third stop for Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock drivers,
Pro Stock Motorcycle riders spend the entire three month offseason
tuning, testing, and prepping for the historic and revered stop on the
Full Throttle circuit.

KORETSKY EXPANDS TEAM

He was a no-show for the first two NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series races this season, but popular Pro Stock driver/team owner/entrepreneur Kenny Koretsky will be at the ACDelco Gatornationals, March 13-15, at Gainesville, Fla.

While he won’t be racing, Koretsky will be following the performances of his expanding Nitro Fish Wear race team.

He added Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Angie McBride and Pro Stock driver Dave Northrop for selected races.  McBride joins Matt Smith, her fiancé, on the team.  She will be aboard the Buell that Smith rode to four wins and third place in 2008.  He now rides a Suzuki for Don Schumacher Racing.

MARCH MEET OPENS HOT ROD HERITAGE SERIES

nostalgia drag race series. The 2009 Hot Rod Heritage Series, now in
its second season, gets the green light at historic Auto Club Famoso

MYERS SIGNS SAFETY-KLEEN

Veteran racer Thomas Myers has announced that he has secured a
multi-year agreement with Safety-Kleen, Inc. to be the primary sponsor
on his 1963 Pro Nitrous Corvette in the National Guard ADRL.

For the long-time Ft. Worth-Dallas area automotive shop owner, getting
sponsorship from what is essentially a local sponsor (Safety-Kleen is
located in nearby Plano) is an ideal situation.

“Thomas has been a long time customer of Safety-Kleen at his automotive
shop,” said Drew Patey, Director of Motorsports for Safety-Kleen.
“Having the opportunity to put our Safety-Kleen colors on the side of
his race car will encourage everyone to dispose of their used motor oil
properly and bring a greater awareness to the environmental initiative
we’ve started with the National Guard ADRL.”
