TEXAS FAN WINS MUSTANG GT FROM BRANDSOURCE

mustang_winner.jpgThe
grand prize winner in the BrandSource/Ford Racing Mustang GT
Sweepstakes took possession of his Ford Mustang GT at the end of last
week.  Out of 65,237 entries, Michael Norris of Canyon, Texas was
randomly selected as the grand prize winner. Norris entered the
sweepstakes at the NHRA national event in Dallas, Texas.

“We are still reeling from the news that we are the winners of the
BrandSource/Ford Racing Sweepstakes grand prize. Even with the
beautiful Ford Mustang GT sitting in our garage it is still hard to
believe! What a great car! We want to thank everyone at Ford Racing,
BrandSource, Forward Sports Marketing, and the best racing team on the
planet, John Force Racing, for sponsoring the sweepstakes and providing
the prizes,” said Norris. “I picked a black Mustang GT California
Special Convertible. It has side scoops behind the doors, 18” wheels
instead of 17” wheels, the side stripe that says GT/CS, chrome exhaust
tips, and few other little upgrades. It is really an outstanding
looking car.”

KATHY FISHER EARNS TAD LICENSE

“Making it into the five-second zone blew my mind!”

FISHER3.JPGKathy
Fisher is no stranger to the high-speed thrills associated with
competition on the drag strip. After all, she says she drag races
because “I love the challenge of being as perfect as you can be - every
pass." But her recent accomplishment at Frank Hawley's Drag Racing
School at Florida's Gainesville Raceway put all of her previous
experiences into perspective. Fisher, of Lima, Ohio, earned her Top
Alcohol Dragster license after skillfully completing one of the
school's most difficult advanced classes.

“Driving a blown alcohol car was a huge jump for me because I’ve been
in the same dragster running mainly 8.90 classes for the past five
years,” said the racer, business owner, and broadcasting personality.
“I knew going in, from talking to other racers, that getting a license
in a Top Alcohol Dragster would likely take more than the six runs that
normally come as part of the course. And I was only planning on making
three runs, since there was just a partial course available the week I
went to Gainesville. To be honest I was just hoping that I wouldn't
have to repeat any of them so I could at least make it to the 2-3
shift.”

GOFORTHS COMMIT TO IHRA

With the 2009 racing season on the horizon the Oklahoma-based two-car team of Cary and Dean Goforth have one very

Imagespecific goal in mind. They will go all-out in pursuit of the IHRA Pro Stock world championship.

“We’re going to focus 100-percent on our goal of finishing 1-2 in the
2009 IHRA Pro Stock points standings,” Cary said. “Dad and I talked
about it and we really think this is the best fit for us. We will run
other sanctioning bodies on non-conflicting weekends because there is
no substitution for seat-time, but we’re going after the IHRA
championship and running the full deal this year.”

Cary finished sixth in the 2008 championship points standings while his
father Dean finished 10th. Both drivers joined the Jerry Haas 6.20’s
Club at the 2008 IHRA World Finals in Rockingham…Dean becoming the
sixth member with a 6.294 in his 2007 GTO and Cary closing out the
club, becoming the eighth and final member with a 6.298 in his 2008
Cobalt.

SLOW ECONOMY NOT SLOWING BERNER'S WINTER PROGRESS

The now two-time Mountain Motor World Champ, Pete Berner, is picking up the pace this winter, preparing to defend his title rockingham_fall_08_035.JPGin
the '09 season. Despite economic setbacks across the industry, Berner
hopes to see continued growth of the sport and is expanding his own
operation over the winter, including the addition of a 56 foot, all
aluminum semi, currently in construction at T&E Auto Haulers in
Herscher, Illinois.

"We're keeping busy this off season. We're working hard on our new
engine program, refreshing the car, and getting a new truck and
trailer, so it's not much of an 'off' season for us. The new rig is
coming along great at T&E. They do excellent work, and I'm looking
forward to taking delivery of the semi. Richard Freeman with Elite
Trailers helped us put this deal together so many thanks go out to him
for his help.
