HOLBROOK OFFICIALLY THROWS HIS HAT IN A/FX RING

It's not that Chris Holbrook doesn't want to see the NHRA's new Factory Experimental Project succeed; he's still a bit salty at the way his Factory Stock Showdown experience played out.

To understand precisely what Holbrook means, one must go back to 2020 when the Ford Cobra Jet, and its front-runner Holbrook, were the continual recipients of rules adjustment to prevent the Factory Stock Showdown from running itself out of existence.

When he raced his Factory Stock Cobra Jet Mustang, Holbrook led a stampede of speed with the Blue Oval machine floating close to the 7.40s. If a Factory Stock Showdown car had run below 7.50 seconds, it would have triggered a significant rule change, forcing the cars to accept a new chassis spec. This high-horsepower transgression would have killed the format of Factory Stock Showdown, whereas the 25.5 SFI spec, allowing for factory-produced chassis, required a full tube version.

AUSSIE TOP BIKE JOINS FORCES WITH TOP FUEL IN 2022.

Top Fuel Bike will join the Australian Top Fuel championship series for a six-round season from January to June 2022.

The decision significantly boosts the two-wheel category that has struggled with low entry numbers and escalating costs in recent seasons.

Headline acts will include seven-time champion Chris Matheson and long-time rival John Zahra. “I couldn’t be happier about the Australian Top Fuel Championship and Top Fuel Bikes coming together,” said Zahra. “This will cement the series as the pinnacle of Nitro Racing in Australia. I'm sure the fans, supporters and racers will get behind the new Australian Top Fuel Championship, that’s sure to deliver some exciting racing in 2022."

RIVENBARK REFUSES TO LET LATE-SEASON CRASH SLOW HIM IN CHAMPIONSHIP RUN

Despite a top-end crash at one of the last races of the 2021 Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) season, Kevin Rivenbark was able to maintain his points lead long enough to secure his third Penske/PRS Pro Boost presented by WS Construction world championship. It was also the third consecutive title and fifth overall PDRA world championship for the GALOT Motorsports team.

“Every championship that we win proves what kind of team and effort we put into it,” said Rivenbark, who won his other championships in 2016 and 2019. “Everybody says if you get so many championships, it's just another thing, and it is to a certain extent. It's still a feeling of accomplishment for me as a person or as a team for GALOT and Proline Racing. It's hard to put it in words. I don't want to say it's expected now, but at the same you know you've been on top and you don't have anywhere to go but down. You just have to push harder to keep that momentum going to stay on top.”
