IHRA DIVISION 4 SPORTSMAN NATIONAL EVENT

With the price of diesel fuel at near-record levels IHRA has
designed its 2008 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Mr.
Gasket schedules with economy and value in mind. Adding to its industry
changing “two race in one weekend” concept developed two years ago,
IHRA has added a new twist to the schedule that will not only help
sportsman racers compete for division championships, but be able to
throw their hats in the national points chases as well.

The 2008
season will be comprised of four double Summit Pro-Am events as well as
a single Summit Pro Am event in combination with a new Sportsman only
national event. This allows sportsman racers to competitively compete
for a world championship without having to travel to the north and
northeast to chase national points.

The first event will be at
San Antonio Raceway on March 14-16. Friday will be a test and tune day.
Saturday there will be two time trials with eliminations begining
immediately following the second time trial. Sunday morning there will
be one time trial (time and weather permitting) before eliminations
start for the second Pro Am event.

BANDIMERE TRACK IMPROVEMENTS

The 2007 season continues to be
a year of major racing infrastructure projects at Bandimere Speedway, with no
slow-down in sight
.

track_dig.jpgOnce
the final car went down the track for the 2007 season, a major track
re-surfacing project began at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison,
Colorado.  Beyond the existing concrete surface extending to the 660’
mark, the remaining asphalt to the finish line at 1320’, plus an
additional 60’ past the finish line has been removed.  Over 4,100 feet
of under-track drainage and 30,000 feet of rebar have been laid in
preparation for over 900 yards of concrete to finish the surface.  Once
complete, it will be one of two all-concrete tracks hosting an NHRA
POWERade event, the other being the Dallas Motorplex.
