CHRIS HOLBROOK SET TO DEBUT NEW WHIPPLE SUPERCHARGED XTREME STREET CAR AT NMCA OPENER

 

After several years campaigning in the NMCA's Factory Super Cars class, second-generation Michigan racer and talented engine builder Chris Holbrook is stepping into the Edelbrock Xtreme Street class with a brand-new car in for 2021.

Holbrook, whose proven talents have followed him through a multi-decade career, has competed and set records in IHRA Pro Stock and many other classes, including the Factory Super Cars class. Most recently, that program — which also crossed into NHRA Factory Stock Showdown territory — was based around the 5.0-liter Coyote engine topped with a Whipple 3.0-liter supercharger and earned him the 2020 class record at 7.626 at 183.89 mph during the NMCA World Finals at Indy. Earlier in the season at the US131 event he actually went quicker — 7.565 at 184.35 mph — but did not back it up.

Antron Brown and the Don Schumacher Racing Matco Tools Toyota Top Fuel dragster team are thrilled to announce the addition of SiriusXM as an associate partner of Brown’s 11,000-horsepower championship-winning machine.

SiriusXM has been involved in the motorsports industry via the NASCAR Cup and Truck series since 2007, but this new partnership with Brown will mark the first time the country’s leading audio entertainment company, and premier programmer and platform for subscription and digital advertising-supported audio products, has become involved in NHRA Drag Racing. Brown and his crew are excited to be the first to welcome the highly-recognizable brand to the fastest motorsport on the planet.
 

EARWOOD GOING STRAIGHT IN RETURN TO GAINESVILLE

Florida resident Terry Earwood, an accomplished road racer and former chief driving instructor for Skip Barber Schools, will return to his straight-line roots this weekend as driver of a hemi-powered, ROCK Racing Batteries-sponsored 1968 Plymouth Barracuda competing in the “Baby Gators,” the Lucas Oil Series preliminary to next week’s 52nd annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals.
 
In preparation for his first competitive appearance in the Georgia-based Barracuda, Earwood two weeks ago made a series of test runs at the track that produced a quarter mile best of 9.14 seconds at 147 miles per hour.

TROY COUGHLIN JR. READY TO DEFEND TEAM JEGS' WORLD DOORSLAMMER NATIONALS TITLE

Troy Coughlin Jr.'s first duty as the primary driver of the JEGS.com Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro is defending the title of the second annual CTech Manufacturing World Doorslammer Nationals presented by JEGS, which takes place this weekend at Orlando Speed World Raceway.

At last year's inaugural event, Coughlin's uncle Jeg Coughlin Jr. emerged victorious from a stacked field of Pro Stock superstars to claim the trophy. But Jeg Jr. has since retired, handing the steering wheel of the headline-grabbing JEGS.com hot rod to his talented nephew.

LEE SEBRING TO ANNOUNCE ALONGSIDE HANK MULLIGAN AT 2021 SFG EVENTS

Lee Sebring, from Delta, Pennsylvania has been tapped by SFG Promotions to join Hank Mulligan as an announcer at all SFG events in 2021. Sebring is no stranger to announcing historic moments, having called numerous world record passes in his other lives. He’ll continue to do so as huge purses are offered at events like the JEGS-SFG Million and JEGS-SFG 500.

Sebring will begin his duties for the 2021 season at the upcoming SFG Season Kickoff at Bradenton Motorsports Park, March 12-14.

VETERAN PSM RIDER STOFFER RETURNING TO CLASS IN 2021

After a year hiatus, veteran Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Karen Stoffer is returning to compete in the NHRA class in 2021.

Stoffer returns to Jerry Savoie’s White Alligator Racing to be a teammate with Savoie, the 2016 NHRA world champion. Both will be riding Suzukis.

JOHN FORCE TO OPEN 2021 CAMPING WORLD NHRA SEASON WITH BLUEDEF PLATINUM LIVERY

To begin the 2021 NHRA Camping World Series season, BlueDEF PLATINUM™ will be emblazoned on the side of 16-time Funny Car world champion John Force’s Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car.

In coordination with Old World Industries, the parent company of the PEAK and BlueDEF brands that have been the title sponsor on the legend’s car since 2015, Force will be in slightly different colors when he makes his Camping World Series debut in Gainesville. Swapping the lime green for dark blue and black featuring OWI’s newest product, BlueDEF PLATINUM, Force’s Chevy Camaro will match the promotional materials used by Chevy and BlueDEF’s collaborative BlueDEF Chevy Silverado Diesel sweepstakes from 2020.

NHRA, MATTEL PARTNER IN THE FAST LANE WITH HOT WHEELS

NHRA and Mattel have announced their licensing partnership to develop collectible die-cast vehicles under the iconic Hot Wheels brand, hitting stores in June.
 
The new partnership will see die-cast versions of classic hot rods including a 1974 Chevrolet Vega Pro Stock car and a 1971 Ford Mustang Funny Car. NHRA fans young and old can host their own drag races in living rooms across the world.

MAVTV MOTORSPORTS NETWORK TO BROADCAST 2021 MWDRS SEASON

The MAVTV Motorsports Network, a division of Lucas Oil Products, will showcase the Summit Racing Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service this year. Each of eight scheduled MWDRS events will be presented live on the MAVTV Plus streaming platform. Each MWDRS event features exciting, side-by-side, eighth-mile drag racing headlined by outrageous 200-plus-mph Pro Mods and wild, alcohol-burning Funny Cars.

An additional six shows featuring edited, behind-the-scenes action that highlights the Mid-West Drag Racing Series and its competitors will be broadcast on the primary MAVTV channel beginning early this fall, meaning the MAVTV Motorsports Network will have 14 major live and recorded shows about the MWDRS this year.
