UPDATED: THE TAD/TAFC RUMOR AND A SPONSOR'S RESPONSE

There is a rumor making its way around the racing community that suggests Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars will not be a part of the NHRA national events and relegated to divisional events only. One sponsor is already seeing red at the suggestion and is intent on scaling back his operations with the NHRA if that happens.

Evan Knoll currently sponsors as many as ten alcohol racers and considers himself a huge fan of the classes. He's made it clear to his advisors that if the NHRA and HD Partners puts such a plan in motion that he'll downgrade his involvement in the sanctioning body to minimum, if any, support. As he puts it, "I'll go to Plan B."

Bear in mind that the IHRA has a nitro Funny Car class because Knoll was angered into Plan B once before.

UPDATED - The NHRA's Len Imbrogno contacted Torco's CompetitionPlus.com to convey the following message: The NHRA has no intention, nor has it been considered, to no longer feature TAD and/or TAFC classes at NHRA POWERade National events.

The alcohol classes will continue to play an important role in NHRA Drag Racing and will continue to be part of NHRA National Events.
