UPDATE: Frank Pedregon has been named to drive Bob Gilbertson's Funny Car at VMP.

There is currently a scenario in the works where Bob Gilbertson is trying to pave the way for Whit Bazemore to fill in for him during the rescheduled NHRA Torco Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park. Gilbertson had originally scheduled to watch his son compete in the ROCKSTAR Energy Drink U.S. Open of Supercross at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas October 13-15. The two major hurdles that could kill this plan are: (a) Bazemore is still under contract with Don Schumacher Racing and (b) tech was closed for the event on Saturday and because of an NHRA rule, no new entries can be accepted. We'll have to see how this plays out by Friday.
