James R. Tice, son of Jim Tice, the late founder of the American Hot Rod Association, has passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Tice, known throughout the drag racing community as Jim Jr., was 65-years-old when he passed on January 3, 2016.

An American drag race legend, Tice spent many years working with his dad during the heyday of the AHRA, and in later years he managed Spokane Raceway Park in Washington.

Tice grew up in Topeka, Kansas before moving to Spokane in 1984.

Jim is survived by wife Marsha and daughter Jessica.
