DENSO will continue as the title sponsor of the NHRA national event at Sonoma Raceway, NHRA officials announced today.
The DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals is scheduled for July 25-27 and forms part of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. This year marks DENSO’s 10th anniversary as title sponsor of an NHRA national event.
Sonoma Raceway, noted for its picturesque setting and fast track, has hosted fans for nearly four decades. It consistently showcases exceptional performances on the NHRA circuit.
DENSO’s title sponsorship reinforces its long-standing relationship with the NHRA. The company also partners with top competitors, including Pro Stock Motorcycle riders Matt and Angie Smith, Jianna Evaristo, and John Hall, as well as 2024 U.S. Nationals Top Fuel winner Clay Millican.
“DENSO is proud to continue its sponsorship of the NHRA Sonoma Nationals,” said DENSO Marketing and Communications Manager Daniel Muramoto. “This event has been a cornerstone of our longstanding commitment to the NHRA and its passionate fans.”
The upcoming event will feature the GETTRX NHRA All-Star Pro Stock Motorcycle Callout. This specialty event allows riders to select their first-round opponents, providing an opportunity for both monetary rewards and bragging rights.
Matt Smith won last year’s Callout and clinched victory at the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals, marking a stellar weekend. In addition to Smith, Top Fuel’s Antron Brown, Funny Car’s Bob Tasca III, and Pro Stock’s Aaron Stanfield also celebrated victories.
Brown has achieved five Top Fuel wins at Sonoma, tying Doug Kalitta for the record. John Force leads all Funny Car drivers with eight victories at the track, while reigning Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson boasts six wins there. Active rider Matt Smith leads in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category with two wins.
“DENSO has been a tremendous partner for many years and we’re thrilled to see them continue as the title sponsor of one of our marquee events, the NHRA Sonoma Nationals,” said NHRA Vice President Brad Gerber. “DENSO’s support of NHRA and its race teams has been outstanding, and we’re excited about many more great years of working together.”
