The Mid-West Drag Racing Series has appointed John Sears as Rules Director for the 2025 season and beyond. This decision follows extensive discussions during the off-season.

Series founder Keith Haney expressed gratitude for Lonnie Grimm’s support and guidance throughout the series’ development.

“After long conversations in the off-season and his increasingly busy schedule, Lonnie Grimm and I felt this was a move in the right direction,” Haney said. “We want to thank Lonnie for his support and guidance since Day One with the series and look forward to seeing him at races across the country.”

Sears has extensive experience overseeing rule sets for classes and events like those in the Mid-West Drag Racing Series. Most recently, he was tasked with creating the DI Winter Series rules package for Pro Modified.

Sears’s initial task will be to review the current rule set and develop a simplified package from a fresh perspective. Some of his changes are expected to eliminate outdated combinations and implement new regulations that can benefit racers nationwide.

“I am excited to be a part of the Mid-West Drag Racing Series in this capacity,” Sears said. “The preliminary rules package tightens up a few things, based on my experience at other events, but still provides opportunities for the current racers.”

A preliminary rules package is expected by the end of next week, followed by a complete set as soon as possible. Fans can stay updated by following the Mid-West Drag Racing Series on Facebook, Instagram, and the official website.
