NHRA has long been synonymous with providing opportunity for women so it’s no surprise that it will be well represented at the annual Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation Awards Ceremony.

NHRA has long been synonymous with providing opportunity for women so it’s no surprise that it will be well represented at the annual Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation Awards Ceremony.

NHRA President Tom Compton and Senior Vice President, Racing Operations Graham Light will attend the annual event, which will be held Thursday, July 23 at The Plaza Hospitality Village Pavilion at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“NHRA is and has always been at the forefront in the motorsports industry of providing opportunity for women to compete at the highest level and on equal footing with men,” Compton said. “From Shirley Muldowney in the 1970s to Ashley Force Hood today, we’ve had 43 women compete in the NHRA Full Throttle Series, 11 women have won races and two have won championships. So the mission of the Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation is one that we wholeheartedly endorse.”

The Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation was founded in 1994 by Lyn St. James, who will emcee this year’s event with ESPN reporter Jamie Little, as an educational organization developing, mentoring and advancing women in the motorsports industry, especially women who aspire to become race car drivers.
