BANDIMERE SPEEDWAY HOSTS TOP NHRA JR. DRAG RACING LEAGUE COMPETITORS AT WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

Hundreds of kids, ages 8 to 17 from across the western United States, have come together on the mountain of Bandimere Speedway for the 2009 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals presented by JR Race Car.  Competitors in eight age categories wheel half-scale dragsters, some capable of reaching speeds of 70 mph, in search of individual and team honors and a share of the purse worth nearly $100,000.  The Jr. Comp class will also run in conjunction with the event.

Thursday, the first day of the three-day event, consisted of times trials for each competitor.  On Friday, each racer will get another time run before heading into the first round of eliminations.  Saturday will be all eliminations concluding in crowning the 2009 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals champions in the 8- to 9-, 10-, 11-, 12-, 13-, 14-, 15- and 16- to 17- year-old groups and Jr. Comp as well as the team champions.  Each team may consist of up to 10 racers.
           
Over the course of the event, awards will be given for Best Appearing Track, Best Overall Car, Best Themed Car, Coolest Car and the coveted Team Spirit prize.  Racers in each age bracket will also contend for best reaction time and driving the closest to their dial-in number.
