MOHEGAN SUN RACING AND GUIDIERA TEAM UP

Mohegan Sun Casino has announced the signing of Pro Stock Motorcycle pilot Matt Guidera as its new team rider with Guidera's family-owned team merging with the operation run by Mohegan Sun team co-owners Brian Bozsum and Jessey Fenton. Former team rider Chris Rivas, who is currently sixth in the POWERade points, has left the team to pursue other opportunities.

"The whole Guidera racing operation has always stuck out in my mind as being a great team to partner up with someday and that day has come," said Bozsum, a Mohegan tribal member. "Vic, Matt, and Len Guidera are an intense family that I think represents the core of drag racing teams today. They show up at the race track and its all business. I like that. I feel Matt's ability as a rider will make this transition a very smooth process."

Riding without the benefit of a corporate sponsor, Guidera is currently tied for 13th in the Pro Stock Motorcycle rankings. But the extremely-tight points chase in that category shows him less than 100 points out of fourth place.

"We regret this happened to such a great team that we'd put together this year," Fenton said. "But we've learned as team owners that some things are not in your control, as was the situation in this case.

"[Crew chief] Rick Maney has been at the core of our success and we are confident he will continue to be just as successful with Matt riding our Buell. The combination of the Guidera family working together with our operation can only produce good things."

“We know Matt Guidera will move our new team right back into the hunt for the championship," Maney said. "The Guideras come with a whole lot of racing knowledge and resources. I can't wait to hit the track with them."

As part of the activation of the new relationship with Guidera Racing, the Mohegan Sun NHRA promotion slated for June 9th is going forward with Guidera as the Mohegan Sun-sponsored rider for all of the NHRA themed activities at the casino. The invitation for NHRA race teams to park their rigs at the casino between the Chicago and Englishtown events is still open to all teams. The casino property has 24-hour secured parking, oversized parking lots for rigs & trailers, shuttle buses to major airports, hotels, restaurants, and gaming entertainment. The property is three hours north of Englishtown, N.J., and is easily accessed from the major Highway 95 corridor.

Mohegan Sun Racing enjoys associate sponsorship from Royal Purple Oil and Mac Tools.
