The Flowmaster American Drag Racing League announced today that driver Rickie Smith has been suspended for the remainder of the 2007 season for "conduct detrimental to the ADRL."

Mr. Smith was involved in an off-track incident June 3 during qualifying at the AMS Staff Leasing Summer Drags being held at Huntsville Dragway in Harvest, Ala.

"This is without a doubt the toughest situation the ADRL has been faced with to date," ADRL President Kenny Nowling said. "No matter how difficult the decision was, though, we must protect the integrity of the ADRL at all costs."

Mr. Smith will also forfeit all of the points he has earned in the 2007 AlphaTrade Battle for the Belts competition. In addition, Mr. Smith will be required to pay a fine in the amount of $1,000 to the ADRL's official charity, Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, prior to applying for reinstatement on or after October 15, 2007.
