Bob Rahaim powered to the qualifying lead Friday I the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing, presented by The Real Pro Mod Association, at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park, is the sixth of 10 Pro Mod events on the 2016 season.

Rahaim, who was the No. 1 qualifier in Bristol, Tenn., raced his late model TLC Waste Disposal Services Chevy Corvette to a 5.828-second pass at 247.16 mph in the second session to take the qualifying lead. Rahaim has one victory and two runner-up finishes in his career.

“I'm proud of everybody and I'm very thankful to be here,” said Rahaim. “I'd like to thank J&A Services for everything they do and everybody at RPM for doing a great job."

Von Smith, who is on the hunt for his first NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series win, is in the No. 2 spot with a 5.832 pass at 246.35 in his Al-Anabi Performance late model Corvette.

In third is Mike Janis with a 5.838 at 246.71 in his ’13 Camaro. Janis is followed by Rickie Smith, a two-time Pro Mod world champion with two victories so far this season, in fourth.

The final qualifying session for the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Racing Series portion of the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will be Saturday, June 25, at 2:15 p.m. Round one of eliminations is later on Saturday at 5 p.m.
