BRISBANE JAMBOREE GETS OFF TO HIGH-WINDING, FAST-PACED START

Day one of the Honeywell Garrett Brisbane Jamboree presented by Link ECU and Tuners Edge has unfolded under beautiful blue skies to the delight of thousands of spectators at Willowbank Raceway today.

Qualifying for all 12 racing brackets was held across the day, with Gabriel Rodriguez (Precision Turbo Factory Xtreme), Jay Sadek (Bosch Motorsport Pro Turbo), Chris Tait (McKern Pro Compact), Paul Mouhayet (Turbo King IHRA Pro Mod), Quinton Nudd (MTQ Street Compact), Jason Frost (Freight Management Australia All Motor), Tee Jay Graham (Pro Maz Street 289), Nader Nader (NAPA Auto Super Store Modified Compact), Shane Seawright (Option Audio Extreme), Vince Rigoli (PWR Performance Products Modified 10.5), Varum Sharma (Race Car Engineering J275) and Perry Bullivant (Race Car Engineering J315) all topping their classes.

Rodriguez, piloting the Titan Motorsports Toyota Camry, was the king of the hill in Factory Xtreme division, and he says his car has more.

“Today was a very good day," Rodriguez said. "We had our first qualifying passes and we did 6.04 seconds at 238 miles per hour and I am happy with that. To be the first qualifier here is good. Tomorrow is a new day and we will see what happens. I expect ‘five-sevens’. The event is excellent and so are the facilities and the people. The event organization is extremely good; I seriously love it, it is awesome.”

Reigning Thunder 400 Pro Slammer champion Paul Mouhayet paced the IHRA Pro Modified division.

“We certainly are happy with that," Mouhayet said. "This morning we went 5.63s at 260mph and then the next run we hopped it up a bit more and it went 5.61s at 261mph which was the fastest mph we have ever done. Then we tried to hop it up again for Q3 and it went another half a mile faster but other than that it just repeated what it did the run before. We are really happy with that consistency. Going into race day tomorrow we will be way more conservative, I will turn it right down and try and go rounds to win. I love the whole Jamboree concept, it is a good concept. Hopefully tomorrow we will be taking that ‘J’ (trophy) home, we will see what happens!”

lso smiling widely at the end of today’s qualifying proceedings were Jason Both (Precision Turbo Factory Xtreme), Jason Payne (Bosch Motorsport Pro Turbo) and Cory Abbott (McKern Pro Compact) with these drivers each taking out a $1000 cash prize thanks to the PWR Cash Boost in recognition of their consistency across the day.

The passionate spectators were also treated to a taste of eliminations racing, with the MTQ Street Compact and NAPA Auto Super Store Modified Compact classes undertaking their first round of racing to round out the Saturday schedule.

From 9.00 AM Sunday, Australian time (7 PM, EST time Saturday) (the battles will really heat up for the entire field of racers as they throw everything they have at the track in a bid to take out a prestigious billet ‘J’ event trophy. Also returning will be the bursting off-track entertainment program, including Shannons Show ‘N’ Shine, Dyno Comp, Sound Off, Drift Exhibitions, children’s rides and more
