VAN ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIVES OF STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS

Tragedy struck an Arizona community, as an Eastern Arizona College van, containing high school students which were returning home following a Friday visit to the NHRA Arizona Nationals in Chandler, Az., rolled over killing three.

The incident was confirmed by Kris McBride, director of marketing and public relations for EAC, in a report published by The AZ.Republic.

The group had reportedly attended the event as part of the NHRA's Y.E.S. program.

The van had nine occupants with a driver, seven high school students and an EAC student.

"We're a close-knit community, and we have joined together," McBride told The Republic. "We're joining in prayer with their families and friends for these students, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them."

The accident is still under investigation.
