LANGDON, DEJORIA LEAD DAY ONE VRHRA SUMMERNATIONALS QUALIFYING

 

 



Past NHRA Top Fuel champion Shawn Langdon's voting base came alive on Wednesday, the first day of qualifying for the Virtual Reality Hot Rod Association propelling the Kalitta Motorsports driver past season leaders Terry McMillen, Clay Millican, and Brittany Force for the provisional top spot. Qualifying ends this evening at 7 PM, EST.

Langdon holds a 14-percent share of the votes, while second place Brittany Force stands 12-percent and Clay Millican trails her by one vote. Justin Ashley is fourth with 10-percent.

Terry McMillen, the winner of one event and top qualifier in all, is sixth with 9-percent. Steve Torrence sits on the bubble at 4-percent.

Over in Funny Car, Alexis DeJoria is in a battle with point leader Tim Wilkerson, where her 20-percent share of the votes leads the floppers. Wilkerson, winner of the season opener at Orange County International Raceway is second 18-percent.

Rookie driver Alex Miladinovich made a big impression, snaring 16-percent of the votes.

Past NHRA champion Jack Beckman anchors the provisional field at 3-percent.

Pro Stock has seen a major momentum shift as Jason Line has a firm hold on the top spot at 22-percent, with Aaron Stanfield second with 16-percent. Kenny Delco is third at 14-percent.

Undefeated Kyle Koretsky is sixth at 7-percent, just 18 votes ahead of provisional first alternate Jeg Coughlin Jr.

Angelle Sampey is looking to make it back-to-back No. 1 qualifiers as she heads into the final day of voting with a commanding 23-percent share of the votes, ahead of Steve Johnson, who is second with 19-percent. Matt Smith is third at 16-percent.

Rickie Smith, who stands undefeated in eliminations, is ahead in the battle to dethrone final round rival Stevie "Fast" Jackson, who is perfect in qualifying this year. Smith is at the top with a 25-percent share, while Jackson is a distant second with 17-percent. Alex Laughlin is third.

Qualifying ends this evening, April 9, at 7 PM, EST.
