HOT ROD MAGAZINE’S DRAG WEEK CANCELLED FOR 2020

Drivers and fans alike, who like the popular Drag Week, will have to wait until 2021 to see the event once again. The 2020 edition has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At this time, it is not clear if the 2020 edition will move to the 2021 edition. That decision will be made at a later date by the officials.

“After careful consideration and as a precaution, HOT ROD has decided not to move forward with the 2020 HOT ROD Drag Week, originally scheduled for September 13-18, 2020,” HOT ROD said in a statement. “The safety of Drag Week’s participants, sponsors, and staff is our top priority. We are looking forward to returning in 2021 and continuing the premier proving ground for the world’s fastest street car.

“All registered participants will receive a notification email of the postponement and will receive a refund within 30 days. All currently registered HRDW competitors will also receive the chance to register early for the 2021 event.”

The 2020 edition was supposed to begin at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan on Sept. 14th following a tech and registration day on Sept. 13th at the Michigan facility. They were then supposed to travel to National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, before going to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana for race day No. 3.

The drivers were then supposed to travel to Byron Dragway in Byron, Illinois before ending back at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park on Sept. 18th.
