FEEDBACK ARTICLE: STEVE GIBBS – ENJOYING A NEW ROLE

Even though Steve Gibbs has not been at the helm of the NHRA Competition Director title for almost a decade, his presence is sorely missed.  He had and continues to have the respect and admiration of hundreds of Professional/Sportsman racers who were fortunate enough to experience his guidance thru 25 years of NHRA's most explosive growth.  His understanding of the rules, the mechanics of how things worked and the presence of mind to understand how the pressure of sponsorship affected individuals, made him a force to be reckoned with. The changing demographics of the NHRA Management Team and the rising complexity of corporate sponsorship involvement made him aware that the landscape was evolving - and not necessarily for the betterment of the sport. His "side jobs" are a perfect fit and when you see his smile, you know that he is definitely in a "better place". - David Gutierrez

Great article on Steve Gibbs.  It's about time someone paid him the recognition he deserves.  Gibbs has always done whatever it took to keep all of us racers going.  The nostalgia events are great and I keep telling Gibbs when I get "Older", I'll be at all of them.  He's the best and I know you wouldn't see alot of the drag racers out at these events, if Steve wasn't there – Chris Karamesines
