ESTN ENTRIES TOP 100

Premiere pre-Gatornationals test at South Georgia Motorsports Park expected to yield national event atmosphere

estn_logo-2008_500.jpgA multitude of professional and sportsman racers will converge on South Georgia Motorsports Park [SGMP], March 6 – 8, 2008, for the 9th annual CSR Eastern Spring Test Nationals presented by Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com. This traditional event has become a staple of high performance which caters to a race-hungry southern Georgia drag racing demographic. The event traditionally opened only one day for spectators and attracted thousands of spectators.

The 2008 version of ESTN promises to be the largest ever. Instead of fans being allowed entry only for the traditional “Chicago Style” eliminations on Saturday, the gates will be open for Friday night testing under the lights.

DSA_1559.JPGESTN caters to the various doorslammer divisions in drag racing with a special extension to include the Top Alcohol and Nitro divisions. Race fans can witness everything from the 500-inch Pro Stockers to the ultra-competitive Pro Stock Bikes to the over-the-edge Pro Modifieds. Beyond that, nearly a dozen Top Alcohol entries will thunder down the SGMP quarter-mile as well as the 6.2-second mountain motor Pro Stockers.

Allen Johnson will bring his 500-inch Pro Stock Dodge Stratus to SGMP with visions of laying down competitive elapsed times in comparable conditions that he will face the following weekend during the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. Johnson won last year’s “Chicago Style” eliminations on Sunday, defeating former Mopar teammate Richie Stevens.

Andrew Hines and Chris Rivas are just two prime examples of the high quality Pro Stock Bikes that are entered for ESTN. Hines reached the finals of the Saturday show last year but lost a tight final round battle to Chip Ellis, the former rider for the G2 Racing Team. Rivas has replaced Ellis in 2008.

Pro Modified, an exhibition category on the NHRA tour and a full-time division in IHRA competition, has over 40 entries at this time. Among those entries are two-time NHRA champion Mike Ashley and six-time class icon Scotty Cannon.

The popular Fast News Network will chronicle the weekend’s runs and post on www.dragracecentral.com .

ESTN RETURNS TO SGMP IN 2008

South Georgia Motorsports Park [SGMP] and Popular Internet Magazine Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com will join forces for a third year in presenting the Eastern Spring Test Nationals, a premiere test session the week prior to the NHRA Gatornationals, March 6 – 8.

This year CSR Performance Products has been signed on as the title rights sponsor of the event which regularly attracts as many as 110-plus NHRA and IHRA professional race teams as well nearly 5,000 spectators.

“There are many options on the table for us heading into 2008 and it’s always that way when you head into a new venture,” said newly appointed SGMP track manager Tim Fleming. “We just looked over our potential programs and the ESTN event has always been a hit for the fans at SGMP. I’m really excited for the opportunity to work with the staff at Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com. They’ve always poured a lot of heart into this event.”

Bobby Bennett, Publisher for Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com. Is really looking forward to working with Tim this year as well as Rowland and Kim Wood of SGMP to continue what has proven, time and time again to be the premiere testing event on the eastern seaboard.”

The CSR Performance Products ESTN presented by Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com will feature three days of testing for the following categories: 500-inch Pro Stock, Pro Modified, Mountain Motor Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Top Fuel Harley-Davidson, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car. This major test session has all the makings of a national event for the Valdosta, Ga.-based drag racing fans.

Professional teams are granted free testing Thursday and Friday, provided they make three runs on Saturday with their respective classification. Testing will continue Sunday through Wednesday. Teams that participate in the Saturday’s Chicago Style program will receive discounted testing for the balance of the week.

PRE-ENTRY opens on Wednesday, December 26. Details will be posted on Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com as well as www.racesgmp.com. Teams that pre-enter prior to Monday, March 3, 2008, will be afforded free entry for up to four crewmembers for the ESTN event.

In the past two years the event has only opened up for spectators when the Chicago Style competition was conducted and that was usually Saturday. New in 2008 will be a special program that invites spectators to attend on Friday as well as Saturday.

Thursday March 6 will feature open testing from 9 AM until 5:30 PM. Friday will continue the tradition of the marathon 12-hour test day from 9:30 AM until 9:30 PM. Saturday’s festivities begin at 10 AM, with continued open testing once the Chicago Style program is completed.
