Cordova Dragway Park and the NHRA have announced that a Hot Rod Heritage Series event will be held at historic Cordova Dragway Park on Friday and Saturday, June 20-21, 2008. The event will be known as the AC Delco NostalgiaFest of Drag Racing presented by RM Distributing and will feature Nostalgia Top Fuel and Funny Cars as well as other nostalgia and bracket classes.

While all classes of competition have not been fully established, it is safe to determine that the event will be expanded from any nostalgia event held before at CDP. "We couldn't be more excited" said Scott Gardner. "It is a great honor to be picked to host this independent event among the many facility choices the NHRA had" he continued.

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits will bring multiple “Swamp Rat” Dragsters to the NostalgiaFest, participate in a cackle fest, and serve as Master of Ceremonies. Also in attendance will be legendary Top Fuel World Champion Shirley Muldowney as Grand Marshal, as well as Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick who will be in competition. The Midwest Gassers Association and others will also be on hand.

In addition to high energy professional nostalgia racing, Drag News Magazine will bring in their popular All-Star Series for the bracket racers. "It will definitely be one of those events that is a must see." mentioned Gardner. Additional details will be forthcoming.
