COMPETITIONPLUS.COM TO BRING MASSIVE COVERAGE TO THE NHRA U.S. NATIONALS

Some traditions never die, and for CompetitionPlus, the practice of covering the NHRA U.S. Nationals to the max is one the pioneering internet drag racing magazine won't let die.

Starting on Wednesday and carrying through Monday's final rounds, CompetitionPlus.com will deliver news via seven in-depth notebooks, a video notebook, and an extensive photo gallery. This presentation of drag racing's most prestigious drag race is sponsored by Jerry Bickel Race Cars, Weldon High Performance, Phillips-Connect, and Rooftec.

"Indy deserves the highest respect, and we put our words into action with our coverage," said CompetitionPlus.com Founder and Editor Bobby Bennett. "For six days, we plan to bust our butts not to deliver results; there are about a million places to get that. But for us, it's the stories in the pits. With all the drama going on in drag racing now, it will take six reporters to dig out those stories."

Each Camping World Drag Racing Series category will have an individual notebook, as will Pro Modified and a combined Sportsman. The team from CompetitionPlus.com will have a team of photographers led by Roger Richards and video professional Les Mayhew.

Coverage will begin as early as Wednesday with Lucas Oil Sportsman Drag Racing Action.

Bennett, who started his drag racing journalism career in the 1980s, said it was the inspiration of a well-known team back in those days that inspired this concept which has run continuously on CompetitionPlus.com for over a decade.

"I used to watch Phil Burgess and the National DRAGSTER team do such an excellent job back in those days with the Daily DRAGSTER and just marveled at how they pulled off the coverage," Bennett said. "Yes, Super Stock and Drag Illustrated had coverage, but it wasn't on the same kind of sensitive deadline. Phil and his team set the gold standard. I knew if I was ever in a position to have a coverage team, this was how Indy should be covered.

"I had the honor to work in both the print and internet eras for coverage which helps because I understand the prestige of covering this event. And, no, it's NOT just another drag race. It IS the drag race."

As an integral part of the expanded coverage, CompetitionPlus.com will send out daily updates of the event coverage in progress. If you're not on the CompetitionPlus.com email updates list, please click SIGN UP FOR FREE NEWSLETTER.
