As the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition in Division 4 kicks off this weekend in Belle Rose, La., all eyes will be on the Competition Eliminator category as racers begin vying for a piece of the coveted RoofTec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund.

Ashton and Mignon Hudson, and their daughters Bliss and Ella, have been the driving force behind many initiatives that have helped this program pick up steam. The Hudson family works tirelessly alongside the project’s architect, Rodger Brogdon of RoofTec, to advance the fund in all directions. Their passion for the Competition Eliminator category is evident in everything they do as they remain focused on the ultimate goal - to drive interest and participation in the category. After all, as they see it, Competition Eliminator category is incredibly exciting, and these special competitions have done a lot to increase the intensity for racers and fans alike. This year, the team plans to give more love to the real heroes of the RoofTec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund, the sponsors.

“This year, we really put together a solid sponsorship package,” said Ashton. “We’ve had incredible companies support these efforts, and it’s definitely moving in the right direction. The competition is getting better, and we see increased participation. Now we need to ensure it’s worth it for the sponsors.”

More than 28 Competiton Eliminator entries are expected this weekend at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose for the Division 4 season opener. The RCEBF team wants to be sure that sponsors reap business benefits and are shown appreciation for their participation.

“We really think that the competition is there, and the excitement for the fans is there,” said Ashton. “But to make this thing self-sustaining and long-lasting - and something that other divisions can implement - then we really need to develop a program to serve the sponsors as much as the racers.”

The team plans to amp things up on social media, including launching targeted Facebook ads highlighting the RCEBF competition at all Division 4 events.

“With the Facebook ads, our whole goal is to give people repeat exposure,” said Bliss. “We want to bring more fans to the divisional events. Whether you’re a racer or a crew member, it’s more fun when people are in the stands.”

In addition to increased social media exposure, sponsors may opt to require that RCEBF participants display their decals during competition. Many racers already don these decals to show their appreciation to the companies that have invested in this program.

Brogdon is taking things another step further by displaying a large video screen in the pits that will include sponsor information as well as competition highlights.

The team also has new opportunities for fans and supporters to help out as well. Many racers have contributed to the fund because they want to see the category continue to flourish. T-shirts featuring RCEBF sponsors will be sold at all divisional events (proceeds will go back into the fund).

To add more punch and pizazz to the program, the team plans to utilize the talents of drag racing announcer Chris Monaghan.

“Chris has a great enthusiasm for the category and for the program,” said Ashton. “So that is another benefit to the sponsors this year. Whatever’s announced during the event, we will include the sponsors and their messaging.”

Overall, it’s shaping up to be the best year yet for the RoofTec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund, thanks to this impressive team’s hard work and dedicated efforts.

“Ashton and Roger are very like-minded,” said Mignon. “I think that’s why this partnership was sort of organic. They feel the same way about the sport and are willing to put in the time and the money and the effort.”
