VMP GEARED UP FOR THIS WEEKEND'S PROSTARS EVENT

Virginia Motorsports Park's Night of Fire on July 22 will be hosting the third annual Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars race, where racers from the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) will compete in a single-day shootout for over $60,000 in payouts. This event has been highly anticipated by both racers and fans alike.

PDRA series director, Tyler Crossnoe, expressed the excitement surrounding ProStars.

"We created ProStars as a way to reward the PDRA's faithful racers and give them an opportunity to put on a show for the fans at our Night of Fire," Crossnoe said. "It's become an event that the teams really look forward to, and they've been working hard to earn ProStars points for the opportunity to make it into the fields."

The Night of Fire event at Virginia Motorsports Park will not only feature ProStars, but also a four-car Top Fuel match race, an eight-car $10,000-to-win Top Alcohol Dragster Shootout presented by The Empowerment Alliance, two Nostalgia Funny Cars, the Larsen Motorsports Jet Dragsters, and a wheelstander. As a bonus for fans, there will also be live music performances by Alaska Holloway, Walker Montgomery, and Chase Matthew between racing rounds.

Participants in ProStars earned points throughout the season to secure their spot in the event. Points were awarded based on attendance at races as well as achievements such as holeshot wins and running dead-on. The top points earners in each class were invited to compete, with alternates filling in for those unable to attend. In a winner-take-all format, competitors will make a clocks-off shakedown pass before drawing chips to determine first-round pairings. Entry fees are waived for this race.
